Bargain if he keeps it up or even improves. Hard to justify giving him a lot more with only one good year under his belt. Atlanta has done a good job of becoming one of the more interesting teams out there.

I'm not saying this is a bad contract per se, but I'd rather have Camara (even if they made the same). Dyson has become one of the more overrated guys in the league, just because he racks up steals. His man D is nothing special. In that sense he's a bit like Thybelle, except he can shoot ok.

He's too limited offensively for me to call this a bargain, but I definitely agree about the Hawks.

Seems like the running cost for these all-D, limited-O type guys in Jaden McDaniels, Herb Jones and Toumani Camara are all receiving contracts in a similar ball-park.

This seems bu far to be the best value extension given out. Wonder if Utah can get Kessler secured based on the numbers on these extensions?

Kessler is a Center, these are all wings/oversized guards.

I expect Kessler to baseline at the Poeltl extension and come in closer to 30 AAV rather than 20-25 AAV. Turner is the other one to look at, which is 27 AAV.

I could definitely be wrong and he could come in that range (20-25 AAV) but I would be a bit surprised if he did come in that low.

Poeltl's deal is technically 4/104M so its a bit less than turner's deal

It depends on what is setting market dynamics more, I suppose. Is it position, or is it the new cap environment (or some of both?).

He reminds me an awful lot of Amen, who most of our fan base is penciling in for a max contract.

Turner is considerably more valuable than Kessler. I had Poeltl's extension as a bit steep, but justifiable based on his skill set. If another team offers Kessler $30M per, I wouldn't match. It makes roster construction too difficult.

basketball media as a whole seems to be penciling in Amen as a future offensive star, and that's probably where a lot of the "max contract" talk might be coming from.

I don't see it, but good for him if he does

This Daniels contract is probably what Amen's contract looks like if he doesn't improve much

I think this is great for Atlanta. He’s a perfect fit with Trae.

IMO he’s a more impactful player than Braun who just got the same AAV on one more year.

Yeah, I expect a P.O. on this.

I love this for Atlanta. I think this ages better than any of those other extensions announced today.

Good for Dyson to get life changing money, but I think he will outplay this pretty easily.. Atlanta has set themselves up with an affordable and great fitting core around Trae. And are likely getting a nice lottery pick next year.

Some differences I can see from offensive numbers between the two, Amen averages double the free throw rate w/7% higher FT%, 6% higher TS%, 4% higher EFG

Dyson career OBPM -1.8
Amen career OBPM +0.8

Dyson career best OWS 1.3
Amen career best OWS 4.1

So there are hard numbers to point to that say Amen is operating at a higher level and upside offensively despite the PPG, AST and TO numbers being identical. That being said Amen has also been on a much better team which can skew numbers and success.

The two from my eye test look very similar offensively, with Dyson even having a better 3ball, but Amen seemingly has a better touch around the rim and more of an attacking mentality, which is supported by Amen having a higher FG% at the rim, higher % of his shots being at the rim, and a higher FTR.
