I love this for Atlanta. I think this ages better than any of those other extensions announced today.

Good for Dyson to get life changing money, but I think he will outplay this pretty easily.. Atlanta has set themselves up with an affordable and great fitting core around Trae. And are likely getting a nice lottery pick next year.

This is a piss-take right?

Sounds like you're too focussed on spg.

Good news for Atlanta.

Im sure this is minor, I think there’s a good chance his next extension will need this contract to be backloaded (40% of 22 versus 28)

Kessler is a Center, these are all wings/oversized guards.

I expect Kessler to baseline at the Poeltl extension and come in closer to 30 AAV rather than 20-25 AAV. Turner is the other one to look at, which is 27 AAV.

I could definitely be wrong and he could come in that range (20-25 AAV) but I would be a bit surprised if he did come in that low.

Poeltl's deal is technically 4/104M so its a bit less than turner's deal

Spotrac says his new extension is 3/84 but I suppose since the extension required his player option to be picked up it could be seen as being included in the extension itself.

One_and_Done does have some...takes, that's for sure (one of 3 people I have on my ignore list).

I think Dyson Daniels is a bit overrated by a swell of places in large part due to his steals per game. I don't consider him a lock-down defender in any capacity. He can guard multiple positions but there isn't a position he defends defensively where he is going to be overwhelming the offensive player.

I think all of Camara, McDaniels, Herb Jones are better defensive players than Dyson Daniels, and all are in the same ballpark for AAV over the next few years. Daniels has more offensive upside and more of a "guard" skill-sets compared to the others, but if my goal was to build the best defense, I'd pick the former 3 over Daniels.

It depends on what is setting market dynamics more, I suppose. Is it position, or is it the new cap environment (or some of both?).

Turner is considerably more valuable than Kessler. I had Poeltl's extension as a bit steep, but justifiable based on his skill set. If another team offers Kessler $30M per, I wouldn't match. It makes roster construction too difficult.

It only makes roster construction difficult based on the other pieces. A team like Utah should lock down Kessler for 30 Million because their long-term assets are all cost-controlled or future picks.

I'm open to the argument that Kessler is currently a top-15 center, but like Poeltl, he's in that 13-15 range and as younger centers develop, they'll likely get pushed down the list. The question isn't just whether he's worth it because Utah has the space now, but whether he'll be considered worth it by potential trade partners down the road if they find they'd rather use that space on other players.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

basketball media as a whole seems to be penciling in Amen as a future offensive star, and that's probably where a lot of the "max contract" talk might be coming from.

I don't see it, but good for him if he does

This Daniels contract is probably what Amen's contract looks like if he doesn't improve much

Yeap Amen still have star potential while Dyson is a really good starter .

Age doesn’t have anything to do with star potential though.

Even when he was drafted to New Orleans he wasn’t viewed as a potential star and he has underwhelmed abit there before rebuilding his reputation in Atlanta .

Seems like potentially a really team friendly deal.

Not a big fan of his because of his offense, I have this deal as an overpay but he was burried in NOP for most of bis career, so maybe a breakout offensively is priced in.
