Anyone else a little surprised Alex len (1st round #5 pick) had nothing left to vault him over Hukporti and the others? I mean his stats aren't great over the years but he played a long time and far as I know wan not injured. And his size could have been helpful? But maybe he sucked in the pre-season games which i did not see?

Nah, he was cooked last year with the Lakers

I don't think the Knicks harmed TJ Warren. They gave him an opportunity in the G League. Although he was balling, he also missed a lot of games due to injuries. In addition to that, the Knicks did not hold him in the G League. Any team could have signed him while he was playing in G-League. Okeke, who was in the same situation, has played some games for the Sixers and for the Cavs.

I don't think it's illegal for the Knicks to stash Dadiet against his will indefinitely. It would be just stupid because they invested an FRP in him and eventually another NBA team would want to trade for his rights (if he is playing well overseas).

As far as I know, Dadiet could only threaten the Knicks to sign a long contract without any NBA clause, making the Knicks pay some money if they want him.

I think the Knicks agreed to give him a roster spot to avoid burning bridges with the agents.

I have no problem moving Dadiet but what exactly would they move him for? I'm much more concerned with the quality of the actual rotational players than some end of bench player making less than $3M.

If he can be used to upgrade the top 9-10 guys, return some decent draft capital, or another young player with potential fine. I'm not onboard with turning a 1st round pick after 100 minutes of playing time into another random older vet min/3rd string player that could be acquired for peanuts at any time of the year.

Dadiet definitely going to be moved by the deadline, they’ve been shopping him and he’s taking up too much space while being as close to useless as it gets.

Dadiet also forced his way onto the team when the Knicks wanted to euro stash him.
That probably has accelerated his clock off the team

Extremely cynical of the Knicks to think they could draft someone in the first round, stash him, preserve his rights forever, preventing him from playing for another NBA team, and never pay him. I'm team Dadiet here 100% of the time. HW may not understand the CBA, but I do give some credence to his view of Leon.

Still kills me that we couldn't throw one of those 2024 1sts into the Mikal deal and hold onto our 2031 pick.

1) Houston has no rush to trade him for a low-ball offer. RFA market is tricky. The player is pushed into resigning.

2) We don't have assets.

3) Next season, we would definitely surpass the second apron and pay a fortune of luxury taxes if we pay him around 25M/y for his services.

He is a good player. But he is a paint scorer, and he can't thrive against the strong Rockets frontcourt. His outside shot is suspicious.
