While it wasn't ideal because the player should have had value. Getting entirely off KP's $30 million salary for only the price of two 2nds, is not that much of a disaster. Not great; coulda been worse

Must not have liked what they saw in camp. Would have thought Shulga was a more likely cut but oh well. spilled milk.

This move was a little surprising, so early on. I wonder what really happened? RJ is a 1st round talent. I don't think talent was the issue.

Maybe he didn't want to be here.

What's the story on his 0 minute stint in the last preseason game?

Him being a 1st round talent is debatable.

He went undrafted.

And keep in mind, this was a draft where we saw a record number of guys withdraw from the draft (Philon, Stirtz, Toppin, Pettiford, etc.) and return to college because of the ability to get guaranteed NIL money. So if some (or all) of those guys stayed in the draft, that would have pushed Luis even further down the draft boards of NBA teams and even further from 1st round consideration.

Also, it's not like we can point to summer league and say he was great there - he played 0 summer league games. He laid an egg in St John's NCAA tournament loss..didn't do much in the draft combine scrimmages either.

And did pretty much nothing for us in preseason.

He should have stayed in college for another year.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

It was announced that he was waived a few hours before the game tipped off.

So just a box score error. Thanks!

Odd. I wonder if Harper was gonna leave if he didn't get a two-way.

Or perhaps it was old fashioned let's give it to the guy who earned it.

I hope Luis has a big year in Maine and gets a two way slot.
