I think Jared Butler could be a possibility at guard? He was waived by Phoenix today.

But I don't know that either Bradley or Wiseman should make the roster. But there's also just not really any other bodies out there at center right now, either?

Thanks for that. I'd been seeing all these extensions and while I had assumed that Mathurin's wasn't goingn to get done I was getting curious. The RFAs this year are maybe reshaping that market. So, I wanted to know the deadline time. Has anybody heard any rumors on this?

I hope we can get Mathurin extended... Shaedon Sharpe just got extended for 4 years 90 million, and they were drafted one spot apart and are similar players. If we can get Mathurin extended along the same lines, that would be great, especially before he has the big breakout season as our lead scorer.

As for Nesmith, I'd have to ask Scoot, but I imagine there is some maximum number we are able to offer him, and given his currently low salary, he's definitely going to want to pursue free agency instead of taking an extension based on his current low low salary.

Rumors on a Mathurin extension? I haven’t heard that they’ve even had any sort of serious talks. The team hasn’t even had any broad platitudes like “we’d like to keep him” or “we hope to find an agreement that works for him and the team”, etc.

I think it's the other way around. I can see Nesmith being extended today for 20ish. I don't see Mathurin being extended because I believe he expects to start somewhere and get around 30 to do so. I don't see us offering that much as I won't start ahead of Nesmith or Nembhard.

I agree on Mathurin. This is his prove it year. I think he starts at 2 guard and excels and then the team is gonna have to decide what to do with him at the deadline or resign him as an RFA in the off season which would cost a lot. But right now I can't see him getting a huge extension.

Shams

Per Shams, Indiana Pacers forward Aaron Nesmith has agreed to a two-year, $40.4 million contract extension with the franchise through the 2028-29 season, plus a trade kicker, agent Mike Lindeman of Excel Sports Management tells ESPN. Pacers give Nesmith the max allowed salary via extension.

The Pacers lock in one of their best defenders after a playoff run in which Nesmith started all 23 games on the run to the Finals -- and shot 49.2% on 3-pointers, the best by any player in a single postseason with at least 100 3s attempted in NBA history, per ESPN Research.

Tony East

I rarely just straight up add opinion reactions to these, but I'm REALLY surprised Nesmith took this. Shorter than the max years he could have gotten, but he's better and of similar age to multiple players who signed higher AAV contracts in recent days.

Looking at Shaden Sharp's deal and the reasonable expectation of similar deal for Benn Mathruin its tough for me to see a path to him re-signing with Pacers. Team needs to allow for the likely re-stock at the center position. The Sharp deal is starter money and when the team is healthy Benn isn't a starter. Extending Nesmith just that much more evidence.
