Lakers are cooked. Luka isn't young Lebron and sans Lebron his supporting cast is as bad as those mid aughts Cavs teams Lebron dragged behind him. Lebron looked like a guy that was completely checked out when they showed him late. The Lebron I grew up with would have been in the huddle directing or screaming probably both. He's aged, priorities change.
Rockets and OKC was really ugly game with many uber talented players. Chet is a special talent, as are SGA and Sengun. Not impressed at all with the Rockets otherwise. FVV was a difference maker and trying to play with Reed and Thompson as primary handlers won't work over the course of the season.

I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

It's so hard for me to get excited about him given who his dad is and how he approached the game. I felt the same about Jett Howard.

His dad gave him his genetics but I think he plays different.
He is a man child right now at 18. In the NBA, he will already be physically ready day 1.
He is basically Paolo to me.

Why is that a bad thing? Carlos was a 2nd round pick and became an all-star. Not a perfect player, but you don't get that far from where he started without approaching the game well as a professional.

Carlos is a man who didn't play defense, lost his athleticism at like 29, and painted his scalp black. It's hard for me to get excited.
There are a lot of great players who aren't known for defense.
But again, a father who became a multi time all-star from being a 2nd round pick doesn't seem like a bad figure to have.

Re: Around The NBA : 2025-26
Are we measuring players by how responsible and professional their dads are? What was LeBron’s dad like?
Probably not a useful tool, but if we are I’d add that Lonzo Ball is just about the most serious, quiet, I’ll let my game do the talking for me, type of player you will ever find. His dad, not so much.

Didn't realize the Bucks released Tyler Smith. I really liked him during last year's draft. Felt he was a big, mobile, player that could shoot the 3 and block shots.
Still only 20 years old.
Guess the Bucks had to make room for all of Giannis' siblings

Also, most players' dads simply weren't good enough to make the NBA in the first place. So I'm not sure what to make of "he didn't play defense" or "his athleticism declined at 29." And the painted-on hair? Come on, that was one of the greatest gifts of unintentional sports comedy I have ever experienced. I will forever be thankful.

It was funny before the game when they asked a few players “What are your memories of the NBA on NBC in the 90’s?” and they all offered some version of “I don’t know, I wasn’t born yet.”

Boozer looks slow/ground bound to me ... Like his dad. What are his measurables?
Doesn't mean he can't be a good prospect but doesn't pop out to me

Sigh.

Re: Around The NBA : 2025-26
Boozer would be a great get if we were lucky enough to draft him.
Yeah, he isn't going to stand out in highlights because he isn't a dynamic athlete, but neither is Luka or Jokic. Considering his age, he has great skill, foot work and patience in his game - you don't see that often with young players. Not to mention, he already has an NBA body, and looks like his shot is coming along, he is going to be a problem in this league right out of the gate.
That said, I just can't do it to myself by looking ahead to the draft and being disappointed that we aren't in a position to draft any true franchise altering players.

I didn’t say I was right, I just said I wasn’t excited. Against my better judgment, I once ordered the “chef’s special” at a diner. It was spaghetti with ketchup. I’ve trusted my instincts ever since. Like, I know Boozer’s painted-on hairline can’t be passed down genetically... but my instincts keep telling me it can.

If Wemby stays healthy, he's winning MVP this year
