Physiotherapy helped me to hold for almost a decade while I was doing long distances cycling both road and mountain until it came back. I had a pain from my calfs and below. MRI showed 2 broken discs, 6 doctors scared me, keep going keep postponed it. Until one disc in my upper body broke as well. My fingers and my right tricep was paralyzed and I couldn't move my head north and south. I had to make an urgent surgery else was in danger for a permanent nerve damage. Its a miracle, the next day I had totally zero pain i could do everything I wanted. I showed to my doctor my old MRI, he told me are you **** kidding me? With that back you where doing 200km rides regularly? Doc can you fix me? Yes I can! His answer. I went through a hybrid lumbar surgery, (google it) spondylodesis plus an artificial disc from titanium. 10 hours of surgery. 5 months after I went for 15km of hiking, one year after I do 70km rides, the only thing that is holding me back from more its my fear and the 10kg of weight that I got. Medically the only thing left is just my scars. For 1st time after 12 years I have zero back pain. But again I am not any close to an elite athlete, I am just an IT engineer

this is an insane story. why don’t you just you know ease up and do less strenuous activities. i used to hoop but now i retired from hoops and mostly just go for long walks and try to consistently stretch.

Sometimes we're in denial of our abilities as we age.

Sport fans take inspiration from athletes who have pushed the limits of human physicality. Sometimes we take too much inspiration.
I actually knew since I was 14 that my back was damaged goods since I was diagnosed with flat back syndrome. The doctor said that its a 100% that eventually you will need back surgery, its just matter when. So he pushed me to start exercising in order to postponed it as much as I could. I did at my 45. The doctor said that is a miracle that I hold until that age and it's part genetic (huge tolerance to the pain) plus the good care that I took my body. I became eligible for the hybrid lumbar surgery exactly because of that. That care actually helped me to recover beautifully. In less than 1.5 years I am pain free ,there is nothing to remind me what ive been through other than 20cm scar in my belly and another 20cm scar in my lower back. I have the clearance to do what ever I like except boxing, but that's OK, I am not a kid anymore.

Now as far as my athletic abilities what ive lost most is my jumping, its like having cement in my legs, and lost some flexibility and of course part of my endurance.

The fact is that the modern medicine has been advanced so much in the last 10 15 years that injuries like mine that in the past was death sentence for your quality of life now can be treated with amazing results and be accessible to the average Joe like me. Imagine an elite athlete as LeBron with unlimited access to the best.

Yes is really unfortunate situation but can be fixed now with amazing results and I am the prove for that

Is someone going to post the video of Lebron dancing with debilitating Sciatica?

I've had debilitating sciatica. I went to a wedding while still suffering with it. This was 4 months in. But I danced, so it's possible.

It's a horrible injury and I bet he currently has no lift on his jumper.

Ideally it's just a bulging disc/protrusion and not something more serious. He has been injured for about 2.5 months according to reports. He may be about until after January.

I wouldn't be surprised if he waits until March, giving himself about 6 weeks to ramp up for the playoffs.

I've had a history of back issues, and that's what I would do. Buy time, prepare your body, then get into game shape slowly as your body gets used to the impact on the spine.

And unless he wants to play 25 seasons, next season is number 24 and this injury is a sign that maybe it should be his last.

Reaves is the big winner here. He put up monster numbers when lebron sat last year, he's gonna get paid by someone this summer

Yeah, the Lakers, the Lakers are not going to let Reaves leave

I imagine there is a checklist somewhere before all these.
1. Skinny Luka. check
2. Reaves still with the team to help Skinny Doncic. check
3. Center situation addressed, Signed Ayton, check.
4. Need POA defender, signed Marcus Smart, check.
5. TWolves with no legit free agent signings, Memphis losing Bane and Suns losing KD... check.
Okay Lebron take it easy.... if we're struggling by November 15, start warming up.

One common way you get it from sitting on too fat a wallet, so sounds legit.

They can get it from playing more of a team ball structure. Luka doesn’t necessarily need LeBron out West - it’s the other way around. Luke will find a way to get the most out of everyone whether LeBron is on the roster or not

That's sciatica caused by muscle issues in the glutes area. That shuts you down only for a short while to my understanding and experience with it.

What LeBron has is a disc issue. Based on the timeline, it's a disc issue, maybe with a tear.

He will be fine, but that timeline says it's a disc issue and probably more than mild bulging disc.

Are we sure Bron isn't just sitting out to make the point that the Lakers suck without him?

I'm younger than LeBron but not too far off, and I've never had sciatica. Am I allowed to say I'm in better shape than LeBron?

Lakers didn't invest in him past this year, so he should be careful. Sciatica can come and go and it will. I developed it in my early twenties riding in The car for a long commute to sit at a desk all day. I'm also very tall, so the way you sit in chairs (should be straight up feet firm on the floor.... Harder to do in cars and chairs that aren't built for long legged folks).

I'm still extremely active physically, but after feeling good for a few months or weeks and being less intentional about these things.... It flares up. Anywhere from legs to back

He's going to take his time until the Lakers are have good players on the roster. Get a top 10 player and I bet he heals up faster.

This would diminish his legacy even further. Not playing when you're healthy and effectively quitting on the team. He already had similar incidents last year when he disappeared on the team in the middle of the season without explanation, and when he ditched the all star game for no reason.

He's building a very negative resume and he will be viewed as such after he retires.

Yeah that tracks with 3-4 weeks OUT.

Probably means he won't get enough games to be considered for all NBA this season.
