Somewhat serious question…Did Houston start four 6’11 guys tonight to show Giannis an appealing brand new way to play to entice him specifically?

Bobby Portis: “I think we’ve got the best bench in the NBA: Cole Anthony and Ryan Rollins in the backcourt, then TP [Taurean Prince] at the three, and me and Kuz at the four and five.”

Udoka's just an aggressive coach and wanted to force OKC to play lesser players. If all those big bodies could have kept Hartenstein off the glass, they'd have won.

Reminds me of that one entertaining game (I think it was in 2019?) @ Utah where Bud went with a jumbo starting lineup. It was Khris at the PG, then Brook, Giannis, Mirotic and Ersan.
"Wes, Hill, Ibaka, Allen, Nwora, Brook, Pat, Ingles, Khris are all slow-mo, injury prone ... a sandcastle waiting for playoff wave to get wrecked. A castle with no long-range archers... is destined to fall. That is all I have to say."-- FOTIS

I was also worried watching a team without a consistent ball-handler in Houston be unable to complete simple passes and got worried about our guys, but I think Giannis might help mitigate some of that.

Eason Minutes Watch. Only 22-minutes even with DFS inactive with an injury, and Okogie playing over him in crunch time.

He’s going to be our board’s new Udonis Haslem. Only problem is we don’t have Mo Williams to trade for him.

Meanwhile Bill Simmons has been joking about Reed Sheppard being a natural born Washington Wizard...

Head coach Ime Udoka praised Reed Sheppard ahead of Year 2 in the NBA. However, the third overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft had a terrible showing against the Thunder.

Simmons went as far as saying that the 21-year-old guard was flat out ‘awful’ during opening night.

“He was awful… They need him to be, needless to say, way better than he was today because they actually need him.

“They need some sort of point guard, and if it’s not him, they’re going to have to go trade for somebody and make some moves,” Simmons continued.

If they are set on Kuz as the backup PF then yeah, Bobby and a pick for a wing unless they somehow know Midds is returning after a buyout. Then save the ammo for the off-season when Kuz is an expiring.

Remember when Terry Rozier was supposed cleared in his gambling probe? He was arrested this morning. Beasley is next.

I don't see a pathway to an high level player but there might be a pathway to get Grimes and Oubre, Okara and Williams, or Mathurin and Toppin.

He's been officially listed as out for tomorrow. You'd think that he probably wouldn't travel with the team unless they thought there was at least a possibility that he'd play either tomorrow or on Sunday.

I think its safe to assume that its a relatively minor injury, but whether that means his absence will be closer to 1 game or 10 games is the question.

Great news on Kevin Porter. Might be a few weeks but thankfully the MRI did not show anything worse.
