Think the Wolves will be a top five team in the West alongside the Thunder,Rockets,Nuggets & Mavericks.
But agree as currently constructed aren't good enough to win a title and still need to find somehow or someway a legit tag team partner to Edwards ideally a PG.

An NBA Finals appearance should be seen as a success-- and they have the tools to do just that. All boils down to Edwards maturity and leadership.

Simply put, they are not good enough offensively.
They are probably good enough defensively.
And then having to rely on Randle as a secondary creator is dubious. History has shown that he will get frustrated and check out of games if you sustain defensive effort on him.
They aren’t a real contender to me. Not unless they make a trade.
Oh and McDaniels isn’t overrated in the slightest bit. He’s worth every dollar they pay him. And everyone would love to have him on their own team.

Re: Thoughts on Minny
as a wolves fan, I can't believe they didn't change their PG situation
but i'm also someone who can't believe they won any playoff series the last two years with that PG rotation, so what do i know
Wolves offense was horrific whenever ANT was blitzed, and yes he needs to pass better but his teammates are too weak are creating on their own

If they beat OKC to make the finals and then lose to an inferior EC team, I think a lot of Minny fans would be hugely disappointed with that.
Beating OKC should almost guarantee a chip.

Maybe not yet but I think he can take at least one more leap in terms of awareness and maturity. He definitely has all of the tools

I’m not a personal believer in Randle. I like Naz in there better frankly. Rudy is solid especially on his new extension. That’s not the issue.
McDaniels is a fine 4th guy/defensive player.
So my big questions are who is the point guard and who is number 2 scorer?
Now this is the real key. They get a real point guard in there or reliable second option (I think Randle is more of a third wheel type) and this team will really be saying something. Even without that, they aren't a team I'd wanna see in a playoff series because Ant is one of those guys that can just take things over and break your heart IMO. Not every team can say they have an Ant Man cold blooded killer type

Re: Thoughts on Minny
A lot will depend on how we start the season. Each of the last 3 years, there are a few teams that stay out of the "muck" of the West.
The muck...
2024-25: 7 teams separated by 4 games (2nd through 8th)
2023-24: 7 teams separated by 5 games (4th through 10th)
2022-23: 6 teams separated by 3 games (4th through 9th)
If we get sucked into the muck, we can get stuck in the play-in.
I feel like there is a clear roster difference in Oklahoma City, Denver, and yes Minnesota. I think a repeat of the 2023-24 chase is a very real possibility, with the top three teams vying for the top seed and then a very clear tier break before the muck. Between talent, depth, likelihood of health, and other factors, I see these three Northwest teams winning over 55 games apiece while the 4th seed starts the muck at around 48-52 wins.

There is certainly no proof that they're good enough defensively. It's the same as their offense. Changes need to be made but they continue with the same flawed team.rolling_91 wrote:Simply put, they are not good enough offensively.

Anthony Edwards doesn't care about basketball. Don't forget.
