I like that the Nets did something different, I don't love the players but I like boldness in the draft.
Of the guys they took, I like Saraf the best but even Saraf may never amount to a starter in the league

shot mechanics are usually much for fixable for young players with a decent touch, than they've been in the past. the real weird part is selecting 5 guys that don't seem to have a truly high potential\ceiling but are projected more as rotation players. that's beyond weird for a rebuilding team, more like asinine

If a team used their first and second round picks on consecutive years nobody would bat an eye.
The Nets have been devoid of picks for so long, and without any real quality prospects to develop, so it's really not that absurd that they added 5 prospects.
They're restocking the cupboard, which quite frankly was completely empty...
Yeah but they restocked it with chef boyardee raviolis.
It's not like they were drafting with 5 lottery picks.
They drafted 8, 19, 22, 26, 27.
If you're looking for a true impact player those picks in the 20's probably flop more often than not...
Anyway let's let the 19 year olds play and develop...

I didnt keep track which ones from 2025 draft were from the 5 that were traded from the knicks.
The knicks first (top 4 protected) was probably saraf or wolf. And there was second rounder in the mix as well, i think.
Is any nets fan or draft nerd able to tell me which players come from the knicks picks?
i find that all super confusing. but i think i wanna keep track of the players they got from the knicks' picks for certain reasons.

That’s part of my disbelief. While sure, anything’s possible, we never see any teams/staffs develop 5 guys on the same starting rookie contracts.
Most times maybe only one of those guys hits anyway, but even then, they are diluting their bandwidth to help whatever player emerges. The coaching and development staff only has so much time and energy, especially given they’ll add even more youth next year. Then you also have all of those contract decisions hitting at the same time too.
They have set themselves up for a lot of losing which can also hinder development if none of the picks hit and they get unlucky in the lottery moving forward.
We’ll see if this particular shotgun approach works, but I see a lot working against it.

But again it's not really any different than a team using both their first and second round draft picks in consecutive drafts and then signing a former first rounder, etc. in free agency...
Rebuilding teams regularly have multiple prospects on their team.
The Nets just happened to add all of those prospects all at once, which to be fair will cause some cap craziness if they all look promising... But chances are that not all of these picks were hits.

I recall the Cavs had tons of prospects all at once, on rookie deals.Karate Diop wrote:Wingy wrote:Karate Diop wrote:

I didn’t really love thier picks tbh.
I think Powell will be best but thought he was a reach at 22. Wolf might pan out as well.
Denmin is probably the best prospect, but I am not sure about him in the NBA. Will see I suppose.

I love how people totally ignored Egor’s preseason debut last night.

14 Points, 5 Rebounds in 18 minutes after returning from a foot injury.

I like Drake Powell and Egor Demin.
Drake has rediclious length for his 6'5" height and can jump out of the gym.
Egor appears to have worked on his shooting range.

So I am admittedly not watching the Nets vs the Hornets right now but only 2 of the 5 rooks have entered the game. Saraf started, Demin from the bench.
Cheers

Why is Demin, the 8th overall pick, coming off the bench while Saraf, the 26th pick, is starting?

Ironically the Hornets started two rookies and a 3rd is getting a lot of playing time lol
So far Demin looks good shooting, but is very raw everywhere else

it's positive signs to see Kalkbrenner and and Knuepple both in double digit pts in their first NBA game!
