Had to dust off the realgm account for tonight

I knew VJ would be good. But unreal performance!

This has got to be the best guard rotation for this team in the last decade+

It's Boston. Don't be surprised if Silver tries to rig the lottery for them if they even barely miss the playoffs. You know, 18 championships, legacy franchise, Tatum injury, yo.

I’m surprised they’re having Jaylen play after his offseason injury. I’d have told him to stay home and rehab for the year.

Not gonna overreact about Embiid. Rest of yall can if you want. Expect a 20 MPG restriction for him for the time being until he rounds into shape. He'll eventually contribute.

As for the team, George and McCain NEED to get healthy and fast. We can be dangerous with them added to the mix.

Love what Barlow gave us. Dude has that crackhead energy out there. Almost a double double. Love his effort on defense. He already looks like our best wing defender. Needs to clean up the mishaps though on defensive switches. He got burned a few times but so did our entire team until Quetas fouled out. Nurse will have to clean that **** up.

Maxey dropped 40, Edgecombe hit for 34. Can't expect them to do that every night, thus the need for McCain and George to return.

Loved what Samaki Walkers son gave us out there. Dude looks exactly like his dad and plays like him. He was a steal in free agency. Not gonna score a lot, but Jabari battles and that's all you can ask for.

Great win!

Can't ask a rookie to ice out his first game multiple times in Boston.

This . I get that they were covering Maxey but where was "30 mil " at.

Obviously only one game, but McCain and VJ based on what we saw so far looked way better in the NBA than they did in college. So either their games are more suited for the NBA or the Sixers have an otherworldly developmental staff. Or a combination of both.

I really love to see the older guys like Lowry up coaching with passion on the sidelines

Also, I don’t really want Edgecombe taking 26 shots a night.

That felt like a statement win for Maxey. It’s his first game as the undisputed leader on this team and he put the team on his back to lead that comeback to start the 4th quarter.

VJ was excellent - shooting, slashing, hustle plays, just everything you could hope for in his debut. Same goes for Barlow, he looks like a legit rotation player.

We obviously need more from our center rotation - we straight up couldn’t defend a PnR with any of our bigs. But I’ll wait 10 games before panicking about Embiid.

Grimes sucked but hopefully just a blip and the fact that McCain/George are waiting in the wings has me legitimately excited for this season.

Ok as someone who has basically written off Embiid and George I'm back in after that. They should both be trying to be the best role player of all time.

To be fair, Grimes did hit a big three in the 4th for us AND he was tasked with defending Brown which he did ok at. Not gonna be mad at 30 mil. He showed up when we needed him. All good.

There's so much to take away from game 1. But the main thing I'll say is... Big props to VJ. I said in this thread he was playing ahead of his years on both ends before he actually went crazy. I'm not expecting him to even average 15 on this team, but that kid is special to say the least and you can see why Morey is shrugging at Grimes threat to leave.

Maxey looks elite.

Nurse finally let him and the team play fast and they're going to win games because of it. Say that aspect is not going to get enough credit for why this team plays better this year and why they've struggled without Joel in the past.

VJ..I’m speechless

Maxey was a monster. Barlow was impressive as well as Walker.

We're dead without a reliable center that can at least defend and rebound. Bona may have been overhyped this summer, Drummond just doesn't GAF, Embiid looks cooked, and Johni Broome is already transitioning into coaching. I think Embiid will eventually be ok, but it's gonna take some time. He looked rough tonight.
