Nice to see Carter in early now.

Harper looks like like a train wreck but I would still rather see Harper and Carter out there making rooking mistakes than watching Champaigne doing the same lame crap he's done for the last 5 years......

I know he worked hard over the summer to get stronger and thats a good part of it, but the best thing Wemby ever did was work on footwork with Hakeem. You can really tell the difference.

Dude is shooting like 60% or something in the preseason from 3. Has ZERO SHOT ATTEMPS. It's bad underutilization. Luckily we're spoiled for choice for scorers tonight but we need to set him up better for the thing he's there for. Otherwise, I agree, we don't need him out there for the rest.

He always does this. He will look like Kobe in meaningless games but the second you have to actually depend on him he does nothing. At least he isnt turning the ball over like usual....

2ND Q: SPURS 60 MAVS 51

WHEW! Feels different. We're bloody resolute.

Wemby doing freakish things. Like 21 and 8 freakish.

Castle coming at anyone in his way HARD.

Dev coming along and feeding off the energy.

Dylan needs to get the nerves out of his system and get his game legs under him. Nice cut to end the half. Leads the bench with 8 points on 4-8.

We have to get Champie better chances.

Bench has to contribute more than 10 points from two guys.

GO SPURS GO!!!

Normally I'd agree but either I'm bedazzled by Wemby or Champie is actually not playing any which way. No TOs registered... Just cardio guy so far.

Okay it was all fun and games, but stick a fork in the rest of us (other teams) because we're well done and cooked if Wemby plays like that in a playoff series.

I'm scared hold me.
Cheers

4TH Q: SPURS 125 MAVS 92

I'm genuinely stunned by what Wemby showed tonight.

There's levelling up and then there's games we've never seen before, and it's only game one!

40 and 15 with 3 blocks, one each of assist and steal. Game best +31. In 30 minutes. Gone are the plethora of 3s. Ineffective are the smaller or bigger or double defender schemes. Expanded is the game in strength, vision, and skill.

Castle managed to stand out impressively even with Wemby shining so brightly with 22-7-6-2. All aggressive energy in your face downhill. Got to the line a lot. Needs to make the FTs. Excellent, pesky D

Devin started tentative but rode the energy wave and came through well on both ends.

Harper took a minute to get the bright lights out of his eyes and feet under him to lead the bench with 15 on 7-14.

Keldon was a bully with soft rim touch. Made the most of his 5-6. Tied with Castle for team high 2 O boards each.

Luke in for Wemby was such a luxury to not have our leads drop like an avalanche.

Incredible to think this was all done with us underutilizing the 3, going only 8-20. Selective, not over reliant.

Team wise, we need to trim the TOs, 14 - none from Wemby, mind. I bring it up because it's a big improvement from preseason. And we need to make FTs at a better rate than only 17-28.

This was definitely and definitively a *statement* game, for Wemby and for us. He's on another stratosphere and were back.

We were a bit spoiled for choice of threats to use even with some key contributors out and so went with Wemby-gravity and slightly less team centric as 24 assists attest and that's ok. We didn't need a plethora of 3s so Champie and Barnes were not relied on.

Eventually Mitch played everyone available which was good. McLaughlin was in early to steady the back court ship but once we got our balance, my goodness. I don't know what was said at half time but we stopped **** around and just blasted off.

Defense was really tight and to a man assertive. We held our own while the O took a bit of time to run smoother. Very solid coaching staff was on it from the get go. The additions here aren't getting talked about enough.

Yeah Wemby is absolutely the nexus of otherworldly talent, dedication, competitiveness, and spirit. I'm going to have to break out the thesaurus this season. Running out of words after the first game. We are so blessed.
