RJ has nice vision and makes great passes. That doesn't get mentioned enough with his game by the pundits. Great first game.

I dont think it’s that simple. Ingram is gonna neee some spacing in that starting lineup. Rj hitting 3s is great but Barnes needs to be able to keep the defenses honest in that regard as well. Ingram is gonna have the ball more as an iso guy and he needs to be able to kick out when he’s in the paint or when he’s double teamed.
also important to remember Barnes scored 14 of his points in transition tonight.
He was still borderline useless in half court situations
He had 9 assists, and plenty were not in transition. I thought he did a pretty good job getting the ball to the right place. I don't think I would describe him as having been borderline useless in those situations today.

Can watch all here. Some transition, and like 3/4 of his assists were simple passes that any player can make.
His connecting passing has always been his best trait, but the guy tonight was like 6 points 4 assists in the half court. I think we can all say we expect a bit more.
But I loved that he didn’t force the offence tonight. The worst Barnes is the Barnes who plays outside the offence, which he did not do tonight

I think the best part of tonight is he made all his free throws. People keep talking blue his ts% which is greatly affected by his **** ft percentage. If he’s able to have the season he has a few years ago, combined with a better ft%, he’d be one of the most efficient scorers in the league. People don’t understand how important it is to have a guy like him in today’s nba.

One of the most annoying things to me is overrating players and the inability to acknowledge successful players because the media tells them not to.
I can guarantee that if the organization put the mandate to get Scottie out of town for example, watch how quickly everyone is gonna start to agree with all the things they apparently disagreed with before. It’s what they did with siakam and look how easily everyone acted like it was supposed to happen. It’s what they’re doing now with Rj. The man is guilty until proven innocent.

People get caught up in contracts. Worrying about how much RJ will get paid. I get it with Pascal because he's a vet and wants to win but the team didn't want to go all in with little assets post championship.
RJ is clearly a workhouse. He reminds me of DD that way. I like his effort defensively more than ever with DeMar though.

I think there’s something Rj doesn’t get credit for that’s different from demar is he can actually play next to guys. Even though he’s a scorer, he’s pretty efficient and doesn’t necessarily need to pound the rock to score. He can catch and shoot 3s but is also opportunistic with his scoring ability. He’s similar to pascal in that way, where he has the skill set to score in some iso situations but he still thrives in transition and can play next to and efen complement other first option players. He also knows how to pass despite the narrative around him. He literally averaged almost the same amount of assists as barnes last year. His only real weakness to me is his ft shooting, I’m not even gonna expect him to be a great defender. But as a scorer, if he can be an 80% shooter he’s good.

22/6/9 and 3stocks. Highly efficient 9/14 and 4/4 at the line. Played winning basketball. Some people are just really hard to please.

Haven't seen raps play that well since DD and Lowry.
s/n: Jalen Johnson has impressive vision for his size.

We lead the league in scoring on opening night despite shooting 25% from 3. Amazing.

Re: PG: We may never lose again.
Everyone played good tonight. No one played exceptionally great, which is a scary thought.
This team can be very, very good.
Starting 5 is building chemistry fast. They looked better each preseason game and tonight they played their best.
I don’t have any complaints about anyone.
Ingram might’ve been tryna do too much at times but I’m cool with it. We need that alpha, killer mindset from our star player. He’s a bucket getter! Plus, his girl Glorilla was in the crowd so he was tryna show out.
Great team win!

Quickley is starting to worry me a little bit...not sure he was worth all that money but it's still early so we'll see.
Hawks desperately need to move away from Young. Not sure why they're hanging onto him for dear life.
I really don’t understand the IQ hate.
He had 13/8/4 and yes, it wasn’t the prettiest game from him but I thought he did a great job attacking the rim, made some great passes in the first half, and was a big reason why we ran away with it in the 3rd quarter.
He went 0/7 from deep which is likely to be his worst shooting game of the season. If he knocked down a couple of those wide open 3s, he would’ve had a 20 piece with ease.
Again, not worried about IQ. He’ll be fine.
It’s nice to see him finally finishing at the rim again like his New York days.

He played fine. HIs shooting will normalize.
As long as he plays good d and hits his threes he fits the team perfectly. He doesn't have to be a true pg with a team that has BI, Scottie and RJ.
I actually liked what I saw from Quick. He looks stronger & is looking for contact more. Some of his passes these last 2 games were impressive as well.
The shooting was never a concern.
What is it about his game that people didn't like tonight?
He missed his 3 pointers, most people can’t give much analysis past that.
But 13/8 in 28 minutes while going oh-for on 3’s is a prettt good night. On average on a 7 attempt he’s gonna bury 3 of those a hell of a lot more than 0.
I missed the game, but box score watching, he hit everything he took inside the arc and had 8 assists. So, crappy night from 3 notwithstanding, that superficial level of examination suggests to me that there was a little more to him than just that. The whole team appeared to be beating the ever-loving snot out of it on O.
