Good observation. He was very poised. It always felt like in the past when he would dribble it was almost like he never quite possessed control of it and I never felt comfortable with him having the ball that long.

Only thing that annoyed me was pump faking open threes. Let it fly!!

Lot of energy at home for first game, as usual.

Suggs pretty much made right decision in very play, those min limitations really helped as he was composed.

Defense was kind a shaky at times.
Feels like Paolo is better with slower pace, where Franz thrives in open floor.
Bane making 3s i good to see. Goga was pretty damn great off bench.

I don't like to make much if any observations about anything until there are 10-ish games sample at least so we will see.

Heat continues to be pretty bad team tho, from 37-45 last year, losing of Butler, having Herro out, having Wire ( who we pretty much had no real answer for, in limited min he did play ) on min restrictions, to losing all 6 preseason games in rather pathetic fashion (-56 ) they will either go for star trade or might be in serious conversation about blowing it up.

Moving forward, Hawks got smacked by Toronto (not that strange, home teams won 10 out of 14 opening games, hype of game 1 is always real ) it will be interesting to see how we handle Porzingis & Young pick&roll.

btw for f** sake we are 1 game in, why there is already Jones thread opened and Anthony Black fights ? Can we wait for like a week?

watching this game back, bane is going to have a TON of opportunities once they fully get comfortable.....off the top of my head any P&R with him and Paolo or Franz can be lethal....don't even think about if they implement some zoom action? can't wait to see them really start cooking up

We're cash-strapped and Penda makes a fraction of Isaac's salary. JI needs to be a lot better if he wants to hang around. The Minister of Pretence's days are numbered, methinks.

JI looking more and more like mid size contract ideal for trade. It will be harder to perform without picks but if we hit on Jase and Penda ( and we only need to hit reserve level) we can also just wait until he expires and we reload on picks.

Only caught the highlights of preseason and last nights game - will be making time to actually watch on league pass this season - but I really liked that balance that Bane has added to the offense, its, excuse the pun, really giving us a more 3 dimensional offense and balances us out dramatically. Bench has started out quite hot with Black and Da Silva doing some good work - I'll be curious to see if they stick to that (I was a big fan of TDS's game last season, thought he might be a good prospect).

First 10-15 games seeing how they go and shakes out against different competition obviously will be key - but my thoughts in the off season about the changes have felt quite validated, I liked the moves (outside of JI - I am not sure his contract is worth it, but sure)

Unimpressive showing overall, but it was good to see Bane get his.

What encourages me from last night is we seem now to have a few ways of digging ourselves out of a hole, whereas before it was limited to hero ball. >120 points is nice to see too.

If Jett isn't getting rotation minutes, then they likely won't pick up his option by 10/31.

I love and missed Suggs. And Isaac has been a great defender the entirety of his playing career, I’m not panicked about him at all. He will figure his defense out. That is all.

TDS 3point shot looks really automatic now. Already at the euro i always thought the shot would go in, more so than with any other player, including Obst.

I thought they trusted him with the ball quite a bit, which I don't think is by accident.

Excellent coaching and they play hard. Winning tonight should not be discounted, Spo always has his team ready.

They wont shoot that well all the time.. then again Herro wasnt playing so we couldnt sic Suggs and AB on him so who kniws..

I had to check the team shooting stats this morning for MIA. Watching in-game it felt like they were hitting their shots at around an 80% clip. It was above 40, which is great, but it just seemed they made EVERYTHING untill that 4th quarter.

I also liked to see everyone huffing and puffing. I think with 15 man rosters we try and run everyone into the ground because of our youth and strength.

Go Magic! Great win!

That's some really nice ball movement...very exciting to see. Not exactly "PG" play, but really promising high IQ stuff and I can easily see Suggs keeping up with Bane as an effective combo guard. I think Bane & Suggs will have really solid chemistry, in a calm but fiery sense. Paolo & Franz are solid ball-movers for big guys already, but maybe all the hype is true about Bane - he's exactly the player we lacked.

Tyus, like KCP, has a proven history...AB is still a hope to this point. Way premature to start on that ish.

Fun game to watch, higher paced games are just more enjoyable to me so I like this change. A win is nice too obviously. Statistically the defence wasn't as bad as it looked, 108.0 DRTG is decent. Tyus struggled a lot on that end though, both according to the eye test and the stats, he had by far the worst DRTG on the team (129.6). Bane quickly showed that the fears from preseason that he had gotten the Magic shooting curse were way premature and absurd. I liked his playmaking too, a few ugly turnovers but he created a lot of good looks, with his hockey assits too. Franz looked great at times, he is fantastic as a one man fast break. Paolo's defence looked pretty good, he had some good moments on offense, but still too many isos and tough midrange shots from him and the high pace doesn't seem much to his liking. Wendell was a bit invisible for most of the game but came up huge late. great to have Suggs back, he is a perfect fit for the starting lineup and his energy is crucial if we are going to play so fast.

Bench gave us a major lift, especially Da Silva, very encouraging stuff from him.

Yesterday was not a good match up for Isaac, he wasn't even tasked with guarding anyone that mattered. He is at his best when he has an assignment (Giannis, Wemby, Porz, Brunson, heck even Embiid). You unleash him in those situations, otherwise his playing time should go elsewhere.

I wouldn’t mind to see a lineup of Suggs or Bane TDS Franz Paolo WCJ more. I liked that lineup in the 4th quarter.
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.
