This whole thing is wild. Adam Silver's NBA personified. Tampering scandals, salary cap circumvention scandals, manufactured trade drama, betting scandals. God forbid fans can ever focus on and enjoy the actual product/games being played on the court, because this league is just a **** reality TV show at this point.

Or at the very least, make one up!
You guys know em all.
The real story is how David Stern could get wind of problems and solve them behind the scenes before law enforcement stepped in.
Adam Silver - not so much.
Then again Stern never had a Pablo Torre to deal with.

I don't know that I see anything in particular that screams 'special' with Edgecombe other than how he let the game come to him as a 20 y.o. playing his first NBA game. That was impressive. Not particularly impressive to see him cooking Tillman one on one.
It's going to be a very long season for the Celtics. Wonder how patient they'll be.

Mobile sports betting has been a thing way longer in England and it's probably just as invasive now with ads in the states, but there have been a few European soccer players banned for gambling in recent years on premier league teams while over half the jersey sponsors are betting companies. It's just ironic to ban a guy for betting when the shirt you sell with his name on it says 'Hollywood Bet' or whatever.
Like the sportscenter segment on all this stuff is probably brought to you by Fan Duel.

Saw an algorithm or two predicting they would finish with more wins than the Bucks.

How far we've come from the 1963 Paul Hornung/Alex Karras suspensions that let the Bears luck into the NFL title. Betting on your team to win, as they did (and as Pete Rose did, by the way and by most accounts) is a far cry from a backup center faking an injury to hit the under on rebounds.
FanDuel and Draft Kings getting victimized by small-timers does not make me shed a tear, even a crocodile tear. I'm guessing they can still make the rent. But here we are with the NBA and the other leagues having made a deal with the devil, and it's too late to say it's a little hot down here.

Maybe I'm making too much of a leap but the fact that one of the bozos talking read Toronto Rangers off a prepared statement tells me that they may not have crossed all of the t's and dotted all of the i's

So, it seems like Damon was double-dipping with his gambling. He did the poker scheme with Chauncey and illegal sports bets on the side. Have to imagine there's more that did the same and it's not just guys playing poker getting busted.

Re: ATL - Wemby dominates, Billups arrested in gambling probe
I saw the Spurs/Mavs highlights and is Wemby now the greatest player ever to touch a ball? I know he's not going to average 40/15 but his aggression combined with his defensive potential is astounding. He's like if Giannis, KD and Dirk all created him in a lab from their DNA.
