Embiid managed to play just 19 games last season and 39 games the year before that. He's had four surgeries on the same left meniscus, a portion of which was removed in February of 2024, with the most recent being this past April. He's also had three foot surgeries. He's a massive human being -- 7-foot and nearly 300 pounds. It's not a matter of if the knees and feet of a man that size, who's had that many surgeries, are going to give out. It's only a matter of when.

Let's hope that time hasn't fully arrived for Embiid, but if it hasn't, it sure looks like it's getting close.

Melo curse is undefeated. Thank goodness we have towns!!

Orlando is probably going to be our only threat in the east

I don’t watch Timberwolves games as I’m a Knicks fan. But I’m sure he’s doing great!

They seem like they could be a tough team, I checked the box score and was surprised because I forgot they even got Bane. Everyone stays healthy and that’s a good squad

Yeah but gambling is very similar to drug addiction does affect everyone else around you. I’d be less worried about it if people still had to go to a casino to gamble but with Silicon Valley perfecting getting us addicted to their apps and adding another addictive element all in you’re pocket I’m worried we’re going to have an opioid crisis level situation with sports gambling.

i'm not saying it's a great situation but criminalizing them is not the answer to me just like drugs. drug addicts don't need jail, they need rehab. a lot of them need mental health counseling. if you want to get high and you're not committing other crimes to support your habit, i don't view you as a criminal. you've had people locked up who aint even addicts, they're just out partying or whatever and got caught with enough to make it a felony. there's no easy solution to these kind of issues unfortunately.

I’m not against gambling from any kind of moral standpoint, everything we do is a gamble to some extent, stocks and everything in the economy are a glorified form gambling

I do however think it can be very harmful and dangerous, I would treat it like smoking, they banned smoking advertisements when they found out it was harmful. We should not be subjected to this relentless barrage of advertisements suckering into an addictive habit where the house always wins you can ultimately only lose

if you’re participating in an event and gambling on it and profiting from it I’m not against that being considered some form of criminal fraud you should at least have your assets seized

Then against we live in a lawless criminal society so who cares anymore. Free Chauncey

You mean Julius Randle? Theres no way 2021 and 2023 playoffs were real. Dude was historically bad and worse than players who played in the 1950s

Read more into the Billups thing. It's absolutely ludicrous. The way it reads to me -- when you remove all the fluff talk -- is that he brought in other NBA players to play a game of Texas Hold'em that happen to be run by crime families. Allegedly. And Billups presence was suppose to be a ... and I quote ... a "distraction" to the other players, which is what is being claimed as rigging. Rigging bets is one thing, playing an unsanctioned Hold'em tournament, is bull. Come and arrest me, too.

Remember, these are 2 separate cases they decided to make into an event. One on sports gambling, one on this Poker "scheme". As I said earlier, the FBI's rep has been shot for awhile. This all reads to me like some awful joke.

The poker news comes off as almost like a coverup to protect the league from the embarrassment of the other gambling news that players and coaches call had control of like faking injuries and throwing games. Something is definitely off about this whole thing

Orlando has no real point guard in the starting lineup. Defenses will figure that out eventually.

The raptors might be sneaky good this year. Everyone has been high of the hawks all summer and they blew them out last night. I thought that their pieces wouldn’t really fit together but it worked for one night at least

Bingo. You're telling me Chauncey-freaking-Billups was the only celebrity -- an out of town celebrity no less -- these crime families used to "rig" these poker games by his presence, but claiming he was operating a device for such rigging? I don't buy it.

i think the list is longer than some might want to think. cleveland, orlando, atlanta are def the teams to watch. philly with a health miracle. i put nothing past indiana. why are we counting detroit out? i'm not afraid of milwaukee, but they're not going to lay down for anyone.

only so many can go... but that doesn't mean these other teams can't be tough. there are reasons why i wouldn't want to see any of them in a dark alley.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.
