This is the perfect season for Jerry to go all in.
Whatever it takes should be the mindset this season.
Not improving the defense would just waste Dak's MVP season.
Every team is beatable this season.
The Cowboys are not far off from being right up there with the top teams of both AFC and NFC.
I just do not think they can flip this current defense around like that mid-season. That would have to be like 3 trades and probably firing the coaching staff and rehiring a new one. The defense is SO BAD they can not defend the pass at all.
260 passing yards given up per game ranks #32 in the NFL. Dead last. It is a dumpster fire. I just do not think it is possible to flip something that awful around in the middle of the season.
Just improve from bad to tolerable.
The offense will be do the heavy lifting.
I also think if the Cowboys run defense will be good, that's better than being good on pass defense and bad on run defense.
The run defense have always hurt the Cowboys since that 2018 loss to the Rams in the playoffs.
It's also easier to fix the pass defense compared to fixing the run defense.
Again, just go from bad to tolerable.
We give up 141 rushing yards per game, that is 30th overall. Still extremely poor. Rico Dowdle had his dream game vs Dallas.
I'll put like this, last season Dallas had the worst defense in the history of the franchise, and we just removed the best player Micah Parsons from that
That said, I am glad we didn't give Micah QB money, I think our defense would still suck if he was here now, and we'd be broke. But this is the year we have to tough out before cashing in on him.
