I do have some same questions on what positions do you try to sign a notable free agent?

I don’t see them going after a SS on a 4-5Y deal with Made/Pratt on track to be here in 2027.

2B is set. Turang isn’t going anywhere in the next few years.

3B pending how they feel on Durbs? Suarez would probably be the guy that fits. I would be okay with Durbs becoming the utility role over monasterio but I don’t think Durbs can play SS.

I don’t think they entertain high tier RP, C, 1B or OF free agents with what we have.

That leaves just starting pitching which there are some intriguing guys out there or maybe they opt to pony up for Freddy on a multi-year deal. But maybe they go after someone like Zac Gallen, Nick Martinez, Chris Bassit who are in that next tier down.

The only other guy would be Schwarber. That be a splash but I don’t know how that works if don’t want to play Yeli in OF as much. Essentially would have 2 pretty expensive DH’s.

I mean. theoretically, I could see us going after a player like a Bellinger. Yea, Frelicks defense and Chourios upside lock them into projected starting roles, but Collin’s slump, paired with the fact we couldn’t use him at all in the playoffs makes me think long term, team could use and upgrade in their minds. And Perkins, unlike Frelick, doesn’t bring as much offensive value. That’s be one clear way to upgrade the offense. While it’d cost a lot, there’s clear upside with his age not being ridiculously high, his injury history keeping costs a bit lower than his value might indicate, and the ability to play 1B making him an option there if Vaughn doesn’t repeat his performance.

I think they'll keep an eye on the starting pitcher market and see if someone like Chris Bassitt or Shane Bieber is an option on one or two year deals. I don't see them bringing in bats for reasons you outlined. The upgrades will want multi-year deals, and the Brewers have loads of kids who are gonna break through very soon.

This is great news
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

There's no doubt Arnold would have/has received interested from other teams for this position. I criticize Mark sometimes but this is a very good move.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Ideally we’d find a SS and get him on a Hoskins type deal (2 years) until Made and others get up to the pro level

I think the only realistic option to fit the mold is Trevor Story, but this was the first season he played a full season since 2021 and is 33 in a few weeks. That latter is what could possibly make him an option to us though too.

I think the best-case scenario is Joey Ortiz figuring out that he needs some vision correction, getting it, and then OPS'ing well into the .800's like he did for just over half a season in 2024.

I have my doubts about Story working out. If Joey can just get his OPS above .650, I think he is likely to be a little more valuable than Story next year because of defense and age.
Wut we've got here is... faaailure... to communakate.
