Gambling is a societal problem. Legalizing it was always going to make the problem worse. But I don't think that's the issue because these guys (Rozier & Billups) stepped outside the law, which is why they are under arrest. They were going to do it even if the NBA barred them from gambling.
It really is.
I think ive posted here before, i used to gamble sports a lot.. and i profited from it.. i can watch a tennis match to this day and get a good idea how its going to go.
I didnt need to go to some therapy session to recognize the issue, and how it has basically taken over just regular conversation about sports.
I used to be able to gamble on my own and not have a single conversation about it to anyone. Now i cant watch on my own television a regular game, ufc fight, or tennis match without a family member or friends talking about the betting lines.
“Who should win here, do you think this fight will go the distance, do you think Raducanu can take Sabalenka to 3 sets, baseball, football.. “
A lot of it is degenerate betting, which is a great way to go bankrupt.
And they can all be fair questions to have normal conversation, but then they pop open their apps to place a bet.
Thats when i was like okay, im going to put this away, and ive told people around me that if youre going to talk betting, ill just get up and leave, they can do as they please, but dont involve me.
And im good with leaving that behind. I dont want my every thought to be about the sportsbook.
