It's not even a question if they make the playoffs. Of course they are. they are just missing Hali. They just won't have the championship ceiling.
Losing Turner is big for the regular season, too. There are plenty of people in the predictions thread here that had the Pacers as a play in team this year. I think they comfortably finish top six.
Based on what I’ve seen tonight, Ben Sheppard could find himself in Most Improved Player conversations.
Turner's impact isn't all that great. He isn't a post player. He isn't paint protector. Yes he's a stretch 5. That's his only value.

He is a paint protector, though. He provides a rare combination of rim protection and 3-point shooting that is pretty important for a team. We're obviously missing him tonight as we haven't gotten a lot out of our Centers.

I dunno I mean he's a big body under the bucket and he takes up space so in that sense he's a paint protector. He's rare because he shoots 3s as a 7 footer. He's that stretch center and that's why Bucks signed him.
I think the role of stretch center the way Turner plays can be filled by a shorter guy - a PF who shoots 3, thus forcing the defending center to come out to the perimeter. That's why I wasn't as fussed about Turner, even though yeah Pacers have a chemistry with him. If Pascal's a better 3 point shooter, you can have 2 PFs on the floor at the same time.
I miss Ibaka and Gasols on my team. Opens up the floor so much.
edit - oh look that's what Pacers are doing right now at end of 4th, playing Topping and Pascal at the same time, Pascal as center.
