Sports is rigged. Honestly we are all kind of stupid for being invested the way we are. These super rich athletes and sports figures just playing us all for fools, and half of them wouldn't even look at you if you said hi in the street. It's one of the reasons why I would never wear a players jersey, wtf do I look like rocking another mans family name on my back....just to find out you were a low life crook all along. Please.

(It's like when that 7'2" guy pulled a bank robbery).
Do you mean Reggie Harding? 7 footer for the Pistons in the mid to late 60s. Was out of the league, or suspended, tried to hold up a store in his own neighborhood in Detroit. Put a stocking over his head, went in with a gun. . The guy behind the counter said, I know that's you Reggie. Naw man, it ain't me, now gimme the money

I don't know who these people are, but I would be wary of scamming someone with that kinda money. You just don't know who knows who and what someone is willing to do.
If I'm Billups I'm getting my family out of the country. I'm actually ashamed of Chauncey here, I thought he had high character.
eh, it kind of seems like people have known for a while now that these were rigged games given the fact there's this guy speaking openly about these games years ago
he was probably doing alright given that he probably had mob protection. if he starts talking now though... the fish is probably the least of his problems
It might be too late to talk unless the feds want to leverage him against a bigger target.
Either way, Billups needs to get his affairs in order.
i saw that walk out of court. cooked.

It won't. He's doing what the owners want.
This is why I keep posting about the Pablo Torre Clippers reporting. This is open corruption and the NBA is acting like it's no big deal. A pattern is starting to form.
So now we see that the league swept criminal activity by one of their players under the rug in an attempt to stave off the notion that the league's integrity is compromised.
I have a bad feeling that this stuff we're seeing today is the tip of the iceberg.

Of course they aren't and of course they won't and of course it is.
Silver BRAGGED about all the $$$ coming in from gambling.
Everyone knows what that industry is about and he was fine for it, because of the $$$
House always wins, games are for suckers, preys on addicts.
Silver probably figures the $$$ will fuel his international basketball league dreams.
Don't lots of people who are corrupt rationalize their behavior believe that they are one of the good guys, or "it's for the greater good", etc?
Silver suppressed what Rozier (and probably others he knows about) did because it's BAD PR.
Better to cover it up and keep the gravy train running.
What happened here is that the MOB was running crooked poker games, NBA players got involved in it like morons, and of course there is spill over.
IMHO, if the mob never spun up a crooked poker game across multiple states and years and got caught doing it, then Silver would never have dealt with the gambling/point shaving/prop bets/whatever BS is going on in any other way but to suppress it.
IMHO, he'll most likely try to spin this and hope it goes away.
I'm not sure the public cares that much but of course there are rich media interests connected to important people who might decide to try and convince people this story is really really important. Is it? Maybe.
Anyway, comment for the poster butthurt about the Trump remarks. Personally, I'll just figure this is the work of the corrupt and terrible and inefficient federal government and it's deep state actors like both of his administrations and his 4 years off in between worked so hard to try and convince me, so I've taken them up on the offer. The FBI is hopelessly corrupted and driven by agendas and the federal government is not to be trusted so why would I start today with this story? Deep state. Fake news. Lies.

They should just put a federal ban on sports betting. There is no way of regulating it if the players, coaches and referees are in on it. It should have stayed underground.

I don't think a complete federal ban solves anything honestly, that ship has sailed with 39 states now being legal havens for sports betting, and gambling will continue regardless of it being above or below ground.
Money line or spread betting isn't the issue because frankly it takes a legit conspiracy to truly fix games (like the 1919 World Series, and by all accounts the guys involved were a bunch of jackasses).
I think the main issue now is legal player prop betting, which is highly problematic for several reasons, as we see in the cases of Terry Rozier and Jontay Porter. This doesn't include the fact that gamblers literally harass players, including college kids, over these bets when they don't hit.
In regard to what Damon Jones did, you really can't control that regardless of gambling being legal or not. If someone knows LeBron is gonna load manage and tells the mob so they can bet against the Lakers, there's not much anyone can do about that outside of punishing the bad actors after the fact.

You guys just can't control yourselves. You've figured it out...Trump has it out for Chauncey Billups and black athletes. Now he's using his power and influence to have Kash Patel and the FBI go after these guys. Even though this investigation has been going on for years, you still figure out a way to incorporate Trump into the conversation. It's like that game "Six degrees of Kevin Bacon"
Oh, it's this guy.
I didn't say any of what I said was gospel. But if you're not catching on to Trump's Revenge Tour 2025, I don't know what to tell you. And it has nothing to do with Billups, I just found it interesting out of 30 people, his name popped up. Crime families, such as Genovese have had ties with Trump for a very long time. Never mind that they shared the same lawyer. Same with Lucchese and Gambino La Cosa. And if you -- hopefully a proud NY'er -- knows anything about anything, you know Trump owes a lot of money to a lot of people in this town, including my little company that almost got screwed if we didn't recognize it and pivot.
Until I read any other evidences -- as I would encourage you to do -- I am going to assume this investigation started with Wray, who was Trump's FBI Director appointee.
Oh, just to add the dates, investigation seemed to have started in 2019/2020.
Blah blah blah....vote again in 3 years. The whining is getting old. People like me who didn't even vote for Trump are tired of hearing about it. Look it's raining outside.....it must be Trumps fault.
Blah, blah, blah, kindly block me, you moron.

I will be honest, I don't trust the FBI under Kash Patel for a number of reasons that i will not discuss here, but unless I'm wrong these investigations were underway well before he took charge.
I think it's telling that out of 30 people, the most noteworthy names are 2 black sports players.
The FBI's rep has taken so many shots that I can't really view them as trustworthy. Patel just adds and magnifies the problem. And yes, these investigations were underway for awhile. Doesn't tell us when, though. Prior FBI director was Wray, who was a Trump appointee. I would not be floored if the story ends up being something like this:
Trump pushed this agenda (there has always been ties there, maybe he owes money like he owes me [true story], Wray found nothing of substance, it dropped, then here comes dewyeyed Patel -- who is absolutely a Trumptard -- decided to pick up the case and play connect the dot.
I'd be interested to see who the "victim(s)" were. Specifically in the case of Billups. One report said Billups used rigging devices (X-ray tables, card reading treys, or something). What, was he wearing X-Ray glasses or some ****?
I suspect Billups was like the guys who get whales to gamble in Vegas. The "pitchmen" who told them about the poker games. Maybe they gave him some money to play and lose while shmoozing with the rich marks.
Something like that. One of the charges was something akin to something you'd see in a film. One allegations was wire fraud, and in the memo, it said something akin to "Payment for getting those suckers." WTF would put such a memo in a wire transfer? I got to find that article to post the actual quote, but that's straight out of Oceans 11.

Small problem. Billups didn't coach Portland while Whiteside was there. This can't be a real quote. Just can't.
