Not just Lively. Other bodies would move. Again, look at the Murray trade to NOP.

Who else will be in the package and who we want? I guess Gafford won't be, because Mavs won't trade both C, you don't want to trade Naji. Who else is really available and have substantial contract? I doubt very much you want to attach few first round picks to get rid of Lively.

Huh? You want me to propose all the details of the trade? I'll pass.

Then I will tell you. No way Mavs trade Lively on rookie contract, because they don't have expiring contracts interesting for others or other big contracts to trade. Lively is for sure worth much more than 5 mio and won't be traded before extension.

First to be traded is Gafford, he's with Mavs just because they didn't get good enough offer for him.

If we are trading Lively, it better be to Wizards, Nets, Suns or Raps for their 2026 1st round pick.

Beyond the playmaking, the needs some athleticism and dynamics in the backcourt. Nembhard is too small and unathletic, D'Lo is unathletic, Klay is unathletic, Exum is unathletic at this point of his career. B-Will is the most athletic but he's small. Christie has the best size and all around play but his passing and playmaking are below average. Guys like Castle just had his way on both ends. No one can defend him and no one can really get around him without help.

They're not trading him. The first time possible to trade him will be, when he gets a new contract. Theoretically they could include him before in some blockbuster trade with AD, but that trade won't happen anyway.

I'm not going to argue fantasy, just that rookie contract players are traded all the time.

You say that the Mavs have no trade assets to pair with DLive, then state they'll trade Gaff. Hhhhmmmmm...

I just got around to watch the game, Lively's fouls were inexcusable, and he paid for it with dividend by getting embarrased, add to that terrible days for Klay and DLo, AD anchored lineups were terrible on both ends.
Defense wins draft lotteries!

I doubt very much they will trade both Cs. ;) It's Lively or Gafford. Lively is younger and earns only 5 mio, so my bet is on Gafford.

Starters on rookie contracts are rarely traded, because it's difficult to get similar value back. They're mostly traded for a star in a package, which I can't see Mavs doing, But hey, maybe Lakers give AR 35+ and Nico trades PJ/Naji/Lively for him. :D

Sure they can trade DLo, but he will be seen as negative asset. I heard that Gafford wasn't traded only because they didn't get good value for him, I doubt packing him with DLo would make him more attractive.

Ya, not my greatest take ever, lol.

I completely disagree. Yes, only trading starters on rookie contracts is not done often, but packaging them with other players happens all the time. Off the top of my mind would be DSJ and Dyson.

I highly doubt we move AD, but here are some interesting destinations...
ATL - when KP is out for the year
MIA - could be swinging for the fences
IND - forced to play Obi at C
Any others?
