Add Trey Murphy to the list

Mathurin too.

Also, the way Grant has come out this year is scary. Unfortunately, Horst may take the bait.

Next team up is Cavs. Not sure who to track in that game as they don’t really have true SF type guys. Guards and centers like us.

I'd argue they have some of the most underrated guys and the sum of that is a lot. Giannis definitely propels all that forward though.

That was fun. Kuzma is back to that first half dozen games after we traded for him where he's doing his best not to be himself but we still don't need him and Bobby on the same squad. They're basically cousins. Giannis could win MVP based just on what looks to be the lineup change where they are trying to maximise his minutes like the Nuggets do with Jokic and just live with the off minutes instead of having him trying to make the 4 worst rotation guys work like we've done since like season 4.

He also picked up fouls at the speed of light. He was getting the same quality of shots with the non-starters on the court. He shot wide open 3s and shot his back down iso long 2s. My biggest problem with Bobby is that he offers you nothing defensively and he is rebounding poorly. We can't get stops with him in the game, so him not scoring means he is going to be a net negative.
Yep, glad someone else noticed... he's a traffic cone. We were desperate to soak up min at the 5 until Turner could come close the game. I wonder if we're scared to have Sims with GA... Not enough shooting?

It’s only his shot that is off. He’s been fantastic on D. He’s also moving on offense and has made some nice passes. When his three starts to fall, watch out.

Bobby was horrific defensively in the 3rd. A long stretch where he was the cause of every single breakdown.
It might be best to keep him out of the rotation and healthy until Dec then showcase him for trade. It's too obvious how lost and disconnected he is on D like mf get in front of someone.. like anyone. Stop the mf ball on a fast break, slide your gd feet.. seriously I bench my 6th graders for not doing fundamentals and can't stand it. If they score on a fadeaway fine but don't let them dribble past your face every play and stand there reaching.

Yeah, they were straight up hunting Bobby for about four minutes there and almost every Ranger scored on him. He was awful on and off ball defensively. He just doesn’t fit with the full switch defense. It’s time to move him at the deadline when he’s eligible to be moved. Someone will want his affordable salary for his scoring and rebounding.

There are legit reasons to be optimistic about the Bucks this season, but we should keep in mind that the two teams they have defeated so far were a combined 48-116 last season.

Still, it is amazing that the front office has reworked the roster and the coaching staff seems to have done the same with schemes and roles. Let's hope they can do the same with health.

I don't think most are. I think they are noting the importance having the Right role players around Giannis brings out more from him than having a second Superstar and Dame is taking the hit because he represents that as he came in as the closest thing to Curry, who many viewed as the best compliment to GA since he does what GA can't -- shoot 3s unconsciously.

Star power has traditionally been the formula to win but Pacers and a few other teams have disproved it and guys just play right way with our Mega Superstar seems to be a better path because you get that hungry player gritty on D and happy to defer and play his side roll and just shoot a damn open 3. Having 2 or 3 or 4 dudes that all think they are THE dude can stop them each from playing how they need to play.

Right now we have 1 dude that is the man and we have enough good players wave after wave from the bench that can still keep the pressure off him.

It’s going to take awhile for teams to adapt to the Bucks’ new look when they play us, I think. Interesting to see how they try to counter our new look.

The thing is the new look makes you truly pick your poison. Either GA is getting to the basket or you let really good shooters take open threes and some of whom can also attack closeouts and get to the rim. Last year, there were ways to mitigate that by letting Brook take 35 footers because he couldn’t risk getting closer to the basket on offense otherwise he’d get beat back down the floor even on makes. You could also let Dame take standstill threes off the pass which he was below league average at. Combine that with little to no movement on offense, guys who couldn’t attack closeouts and it was way easier to throw bodies at GA and not truly pay for it.

The available adjustments would be close out super hard on AJG to make him attack closeouts (although his quick high release really mitigates that), dare Kuz to shoot threes (but if the ball is moving fast enough he can always attack rather than shoot the three), and try to get Bobby posting up to kill the flow on offense then attack him when he’s on defense.

Young, quick dudes around GA is the way to play in the modern NBA.

It probably goes both ways at some level because they play at a pace, hit enough open shots to spread the floor and they have no problem feeding Giannis when he can't dribble in. But yeah, without Giannis and the chaos he causes defenses those guys don't do nearly this well.

This version of Kuz is 10x better for the style we want to play -- defense and fast -- .. this version of Bobby is completely misfit and he'll be losing minutes to Sims or someone pretty quickly imo.

His passing ideas have been good, his high-low passes that don't get higher than ~9 feet have been awful. You'd think he'll improve on those.

This is why I like pairing him with Turner for all of Turner’s minutes. Turner protects the rim so GA can play free safety. He also spaces the floor and moves on offense which makes things super difficult for defenses. And he can play uptempo. Don’t split them up just because Portis and Kuz don’t work together. Figure out how to not get destroyed for the ten or so GA on the bench minutes. If that means one of Kuz or Bobby have to go then so be it.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
