Game 2: Utah Jazz (1-0) @ Sacramento Kings (0-1)

Post#1 » by Inigo Montoya » Fri Oct 24, 2025 8:34 am

The Jazz looked so good on opening night that it feels like the tank is in serious danger. We need Peterson, Boozer or Dybantsa on this team, dammit.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

It's just game 2 but yeah it seems Utah doesn't have a choice but to compete. Just too deep and capable

So Sabonis is going to play? That makes it more interesting, let's see how Kessler will handle him......

I think there a good chance the Jazz start something like 4-2 this season. Then finish with under 20 wins. Their starting couple weeks is just such a cake walk for any other team.

A lot of my optimism after game one is expiring. I wonder a bit if Hardy just struggles to use young wings. Our young guards seem to get plenty of play time but I’m confused why Svi is getting minutes over Ace / Cody (I know he’s awful).

A tight game with a bad sac team is just fine if we’re playing the young ins but I don’t think we should be at a point where Svi has more minutes than Ace and Clayton combined.

This game has restored my faith in the tank. We’ll probably win but playing like this we won’t win much… we also apparently won’t see our top 5 pick much either. Or either of our last two top ten picks.

Really excited for us to get another top 5 pick this year that we can also sit on the bench.

Ace has been sick. I think he will replace Svi soon. Cody just sucks.

Couldn't catch this one, I live in the Kings media market so it was blacked out lol.

I liked some things I watched. We could have won. Our defense is improved. Some of the young dudes looks improved.
George did a nice game, but still force too much.
Last play should go to Markkanen.

I actually thought it was a pretty good game from both teams. They both played good defense and gave effort. I thought George was very good despite his shooting percentages, and his defense has been much improved. I don't Svi starting and getting minutes over young guys but I suppose that in the context of what Hardy wants, which is shooting and floor spacing, it makes sense. But I also hope this will change the more the season goes on.

The Jazz also need to decide what they do with Bailey. Either sit him out and let him heal, or play him significant minutes.

Overall, I can't complain about the result. It's a quality loss if there ever was one.

Andy Larsen says Cody is even struggling terribly in practice, I don't know if he makes to his fourth year of his rookie deal.

Ace is recovering from the flu/COVID and will probably replace Svi soon.

I sure hope he does. I really don’t see the point in Svi playing any minutes for this team. Young players are almost always going to be worse than vets, but they need playing time to reach their upside. I know the team would be worse with more minutes going to Ace/Hendricks/Clayton/Cody but I don’t care about the short term I want them to play and be coached through their struggles not benched and ignored.
