Re: Bears thread 13
Running the ball effectively is going to be especially important on Sunday to keep the ball away from Lamar and eat up the clock. Or just holding onto the ball in any fashion. We probably need to score 30+ points to win, and be able to contain Henry and Lamar's running.

With all the injuries on defense, this is an opportunity for Williams to finally have a defining game. The ravens are likely to put up points. If I’m Williams, I’m aiming for at least a 3 td 300 yard game. It’s a big ask but eventually your first overall pick has to come through with a major game.

Doesn't feel like Jackson is playing. Either way Caleb needs to show up and be that guy.

Kyler Gordon on IR, hope Josh Blackwell can stay healthy for the next 4+ weeks otherwise a team that plays about 70% of their snaps in Nickel will have to make some really uncomfortable decisions RE cornerback.

With Lamar out the Bears go from underdogs by 6.5 points to favorites by 1.5 points.

Additionally Booker and Ogbongemiga ruled OUT. Dallis Flowers (CB) was elevated; apparently Flowers has played in one game this year for Bears.

With Gordon on IR, we might need to trade for a corner. I think we can get a mid tier vet for a 4/5. Someone like Eric stokes or can Taylor Brit come to mind. Checking to see what it would take to get sneed might be worth it too.

If the Texans continue to be ass, we might be able to get pitre or Lassiter for a reasonable cost

Re: Bears thread 13
BetMGM has CHI still a 2 pt underdog.
With Lamar out, at least the Bears stand more of a chance.
It sucks how much time Gordon is missing, especially after they just made him one of the highest paid slot CB's in the league.
And Braxton- is this the same injury that caused him to miss time last year? Maybe he never really got healthy, and now they just want him to do so. Likely a lost season for him.

If Booker is still out, my understanding is that he can’t come back this year? Something like that

They have to activate him by Tuesday otherwise he is out the full season.

Re: Bears thread 13
After Gordon’s injury, I don’t know what’s a bigger need between DB or edge. Can’t trade for both. I don’t wanna give up any of our day 1-2 picks. Maybe a 6-7 rounder or a pick swap. Not sure if there’s any good CB free agents. I’m sure we are bringing in some.

His accuracy is bad. His EPA is leading the bottom third of the league. I don’t know if holding the ball is key, but it might be key for him. How much he can get better is anybody’s guess. I don’t think he reads the defense well enough to say getting the ball out faster would help, because he looks even less accurate when he tries to be quick. The Bears offense is surviving more or less without him being the reason why they score, and on turnovers. They have to be a team that can win with him. Perhaps not because of him.
Let's not get carried away. Until this last game, he'd been getting better each week. As BC has said, there's going to be some ups and downs.
I don’t know if that’s true. He was worse week 4 than week 3.
I think we can be critical and have patience. Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen weren’t great their 2nd year. CJ Stroud and Jayden Daniels looked great their rookie year, but how are they looking now?
I went into the year expecting Caleb to look better the 2nd half of the year as he’s learning the Ben Johnson offense. The running game should help, cleaning up penalties should help, and Rome holding onto the ball should help. However, it can be frustrating that he’s not better considering how he has guys open, we can be competitive this year, and Drake Maye is looking like Tom Brady 2.0.
Caleb is still bottom of the entire NFL with a -9.7% CPOE. He was actually -10.3% two weeks ago, so he's been incrementally more accurate over the past two games, but it lags far, far behind the league-leader in CPOE, Drake Maye, who's at +10.3%.
Caleb has been objectively horrible, but since the Bears are on a four-game winning streak, the wool has been pulled over most Bears fans' eyes, but even in losses, they have blamed it on everything else but the quarterback. He turns downs throws that even decent QBs would attempt, because he lacks confidence in his accuracy. If it weren't for Ben Johnson, Caleb would probably look just as bad as Justin Fields does in New York.
