The east is terrible. I’ve said that no matter who the coach is we should make the finals this year. We really won’t know how good we are until we face the top of the west.

Yeah we’ve had a pretty easy schedule so far, so there’s not much to takeaway other than that Mike brown is willing to try out different things. Our real first test will be against Minny.

Cavs were favored to win the East AND beat us Game 1! I heard directly from Isola & Scalabrine that Boston would be really good this year before the season started...SVG even said before the game Derrick White will be All-NBA! We were supposed to be a work in progress with even worse defense than Thibs... There is nothing accidental or easy about these first two wins, Brown and staff have been working with this team non-stop. Yes the east is weaker than the west overall but the Pacers very nearly beat OKC. It's very hard to repeat especially when you played deep into June.

Yeah, these were good teams and we beat them comfortably.

We have a crapton of talent though. I somewhat subscribe to the idea that Brown's true mettle with this team will be tested in the playoffs but we should win 55-60 games, which is great. I love that he's mixing it up and bringing more guys into the fold with success. It'll make us more resilient in those playoff battles. That's what Indy had over us. Next man up was always comfortable in their role and they simply outlasted us. There are teams at the top of the west where our talent doesn't overwhelm theirs and we'll need tactics to win.

Defensive player with hard hat and boots. Awesome way to keep guys engaged. Clarkson did play good defense.

Maybe not slander but he is frustrating af sometimes.

Still reckless on his drives, commits foolish fouls and is still rough on PnR defense.

Love that he is getting up more 3s. Use him to his strength. He is also an exceptional rebounder.

But at this point he is who he is so I've got to learn to accept that the foolishness isnt going anywhere and the good far outweighs the bad.

Good coaches minimize exposing weaknesses and maximize accentuating strengths of each individual player.

KAT has plenty of strengths. In the right role his weaknesses, while they will never be entirely eliminated, they can at least be mitigated more than Thibs did.

We don’t wanna go back to not having Towns. People underestimate what a stretch big can do. He’s also an all around scorer and passer. Towns one of our most important players.

He set some solid screens and leveled someone on a screen who was guarding Brunson.
Kept a lot of offensive boards alive on taps.

And sure, he's moving a little sluggish but he plays smart, understands where to go, move the ball, set the good screen.

I think at some point fans will stop hating him. Probably in 50 games or so, since, well, Knicks fans.

Yabu-ty is ass.

He's never going to be really good. He looked like sh*t in the preseason. I'm going to call it like I see it when he does some solid stuff.

Needs to lose that weight and get back to last year's playing weight. It won't transform him but he'll look better.

I'm still curious where and how he will fit on this roster. From the limited tape I watched of him this summer many of the things he does from shooting to handling the ball to passing seem like they are far more impressive as a center than they are as a forward but playing him as a center may magnify some of his defensive issues.

Yesterday I could see the advantages as a forward keeping some possessions alive on the glass but I could also see his lack of mobility guarding quicker players at times. On offense a more mobile forward in Boucher had no trouble closing out to block Yabu's 3 point attempt whereas Queta, a more traditional center gave him much more space on his one made 3 pointer.

I hope he looks better as he gets adjusted to the new team and possibly takes some pounds off but it is a little odd that the guy that was playing in Eurobasket 2 weeks before training camp started would be in poor condition. Is this poor conditioning for him or is this just who he is at this point in his career?

That's basically all Gravy does, strawmen and "remember it didn't work with Chris Duhon, so it wont work now!!!". Even more egregious than the Fizdale mention was the pathetic "lol" typed at the end of the post, just cringeworthy all around. You can tell some of these dudes are hoping we lose. Image

I know there are strong agendas here about the starters but its nice that he ran bigs against the cavs and went small against the cs.

Its refreshing to have a coach that doesn't wait until we have our backs against the wall in the playoffs to adjust.

Id like to see a lil more cohesiveness with brunson and kat... though im aware its game 2 and it will take time.

And honestly idgaf how we run an offense as long as we win. I enjoyed watching spree and Houston post up. So spam 3s if it leads to wins.

I missed the game but yeah. If Mike brown and the coaching staff are willing to adapt for matchups then I can’t complain.

It sounds like our offense struggled a bit and Brunson bailed us out. Gonna watch the replay later today

Kinda a weird game. Even though the Cs were always close it never felt like they had a real chance. We were getting clean looks all game. Some frustrating defensive lapses. Still giving up clean looks from 3.

I have to admit this version of mikal has been real fun to watch. He is all over the court on defense. His help defense and playing the passing lanes is so disruptive. He has been a menace. Also hit an atb 3. Hope we see this consistently throughout the year.

And yeah Brunson was Brunson even though he was kinda off for parts of the game.

Kat still kat. Reckless drives, dumb fouls poor defense on PnR, dominant rebounding(this skill might even be better than his great outside shooting. And he doesn't get enough creadit for it), great outside shooting, and we used him as a passing hub some which was nice.

It was a fun game to watch. Hopefully we stay healthy this year cause it should be a really fun year of knicks hoops.

We didnt beat either of these teams in the regular season last year and sure the Cs are different and the cavs were missing some players but idgaf.

And I get the whole judging by the playoffs. But if we only enjoy the views from the top of the mountain we miss the beauty of the forest. Im going to enjoy the journey... for now. When sht gets rough ill do my fair share bịtching. But for now im going to enjoy beating on these other teams.

KAT still sounds like the odd guy out. Hopefully he balls out in his audition for Milwaukee next week.

Great analogy. Especially since my post was half written to annoy sham. To continue it, you can and should celebrate intermittent milestones such as unexpected views or wildlife without losing sight of the prize. Sometimes even a fog over the mountain can give way to a peak at the summit, more spectacular than if it were in full view the whole way.

I think it was just a cramp. Trainers were working to massage it out on the sidelines. If it was serious, they would’ve brought him back to the locker room.
