I always hear how scottie plays up to his competition. Lebron. Kd. Etc.

What's a bigger matchup for him than giannis?

17/5/3? I didn't see that tonight at all. Not expecting him to outplay giannis but the way everyone talks about scottie in certain matchups I'd have expected more agression...

Also those lebron/kd matchups were in his rookie year. Maybe 2nd. :) but the reputation has stuck i guess... wishful thinking?

He's great for his height. Average NBA player is like 6'6", so.
I wouldn't even say hes great for his height. Not yet at least.

He works hard all the time. He's hardly effective most the time.

Everyone settle down. Lets see what happens after this group plays 40-50 games together. This is still very very early for this group of players and its gonna take time and possibly a few more moves need to be made well see...

In a game you could use more defence, why was Ja'kobe a DNP?

It would be a 12 man rotation at that point. We need Gradey and Battle’s shooting so Ja’Kobe is the odd man out.

Gradey will be out of fhe rotation in the longterm if he doesnt become a useless defender. So many times I saw him give 0 resistance. I hate soft players and Dick is a poster boy for that. Hope he can figure it out but we'll see.

All the hype around Scottie is based on perception.

I wasn’t paying full attention cuz I was watching with my paramour/Blue Jays, but from what I saw, here are my observations:

-Jak is either hurt or not in shape
-Scottie was just bad
-Ingram can get his own quite well but I’m unsure about his capacity to make his teammates better
-RJ and Quickley on D…ughhhh
-lineup choices were weird throughout

Overall, I’m concerned about the offence. I think we are relying too heavily on BI. I think we need more early touches to Scottie, not for him to try to score or take his man, but for him to facilitate the offence and get his teammates easier looks. Also, Scottie seems to be listless everywhere when he’s not involved in the offence. That said, I like how we are getting the ball to BI on the move or in space. I think RJ needs more of the ball as well, with room to attack.

Overall, I just think the O, from what I’ve seen in the preseason and two regular season games (small sample) is that if we go BI heavy it’ll lead to big numbers for him but bad overall performance for the team. We have to find a way to get everyone touches of the ball.

That said, Scottie needs to play hard even if he’s not the focal point. If he wanted to be the focal point he shoulda worked harder the last four off seasons.

It's based on his crazy BPM stats.

Scottie plays well when he has better players to hide behind. When his number is called he gets punked like by CJ McCollum 2-3 years ago or he hits some flukey 3’s that give us hope. There’s no real consistency in his offensive game he’ll either be flukey spectacular or complete trash. The answer lies in between and I think that archetype is Aaron Gordon.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

I only watched the first half due to the Jays game. I thought they played well. It will take them a bit to figure out how to close close games and optimize their lineups.

CMB would have been nice to have I'm a game against Giannis.

My take on game 2 is we went hard in Atlanta to the point where we weren't fully recovered by Friday night so things looked sloppy and guys were dragging their feet. Not sure if this is guys not being in shape or just that we played game 1 of 82 like it was game 4 ECSF after not playing for real in 6 months.

This is probably my biggest takeaway. They looked rather sluggish overall.

Their starting line up is completely at odds at how they want to defend.

Ingram or RJ have to be able to defend at a high level and they both can’t do it. Ingram can be passable but RJ is still very bad at it despite his effort.

Darko is going to have to do alot of staggering to avoid having them play together.

I think they need to stagger lineups for their offense to work as well.

We had a 108DRTG with Poeltl on the bench last night - cant blame the bench bigs really.

In fact, we have actually dominated Sandros and Mogobs minutes on the d-end

The main problem was like, you know, Giannis. And if he's 2-2 from 3, well, some times you just gotta tip your cap. Really could have used CMB for a situation like this, when Poeltl gets in foul trouble early on but then we gotta have a few minutes of Mogbo at the C?

****, even just the random bounces that ended up back for Milwaukee as O-rebounds. Just one of those have to learn from it.

I’d like to see how Walter does with sheads minutes

Get used to the ebbs and flows of a 38 win team. Some nights they look great and other nights, not so much.

The Aaron Gordon who dropped 10 3s in a game?
