Why do we need to put people in a pedestal so often? He is a generational talent, but let it actually happen before anointing or proclaiming him something he isn't already.

No, but we do expect him to maintain 34+zimpy27 wrote:Luka and Giannis also currently have a PER of 43.
Why are we just expecting Wemby to maintain?
Luka played only 2 games and avg'ed pretty much a 50 pt. Triple double on good efficiency and part of that was the insane usage from LBJ being out (case in point, Ar's game without Luka and LBJ)
Wemby over 3 ganes has 33\13.3\2.3 with 6 blocks and 1.7 steals on pretty sustainable shooting splits of 36\61\73
The blocks are skewed by the 9 blocks game, 6 a game is obviously too high but he avg'ed 3.8 last season, i would expect him to get to 4.5 this season, that's very plausible
Wemby can avg 30 on those splits (FT will be higher actually, he shot 80% as a rookie and 83% last season, no way he's shooting 73% in this one)
He aveg'ed 11 Reb last season, he's now taller, stronger (important for rebounding), older and more experienced..13.3 may be a tad high but no reason to think he wouldn't averagd say..12.5 Rpg?
Oh and he had 3.9 and 3.7 Apg last two seasons, can only go up from 2.3
so all in all, what he's done the first 3 games seems largely sustainable, maybe a bit inflated but even 90% of his current production would shatter every record and be the best rs season in history.

Point is Giannis and Luka have years of proof that they can put up huge numbers, yet Wemby is the one being expected to sustain better.
I'm just pointing out the bias here. Luka and Wemby both expect to have to make space for LeBron and Fox. Giannis is the most likely to maintain his output across a season IMO.

Only a slightly better version of Aaron Gordon, who currently has a PER of 39. That said, AG has a Ortg of 166 and Wemby's is only 140.

i think he very well could maintain a record breaking PER. he puts up video game numbers and doesn't play many minutes to do it. WS48 will be harder as your team quality can affect it so either the spurs have to win like 65+ or this will likely decrease (or he has to keep up jokic-like TS% for a season). BPM harder to say. one thing that will definitely change against wemby is he has 1 turnover through 3 games. either he's so good it's impossible or that's going to go in the 3-4 range like most players who do as much as he does.

64% TS would have been +6.4% rTS last season. And he's doing that on 33 ppg at the moment. If that were to last, it'd be one of the best scoring seasons we've seen. That would most certainly be amazing.
