Raps probably have the worst defence in the league

spurs were perfectly set up by the NBA to be relevant again

Kudos to Silver

I'm as pissed as anyone they were gifted Wemby but I see the League's POV. The other franchises were dysfunctional Jokes and the Spurs have a track record of developing players and had Tim/Pop/Admiral

Now personally I think Wemby shines anywhere so they should have let him go to CHA imo, would be stuff of legends if he made them competitive

But I guess league wanted to ensure the best outcome for their next face

And what are you getting for him, more bad money, a worse player? We know what his market value is and it’s not much. Like it or not they painted themselves into a corner with that trade.

Let's assume they didn't get Ingram, how are things any different with this roster? They still have RJ, IQ and Scottie on the books, it's not like their value goes up without Ingram on it.

Financial flexibility over the next 3 seasons, the ability to take back more money in trades. With Ingram we are right at the tax and hamstrung in terms of adding pieces or making changes. Probably going to lose actually good players because we can’t afford them like Ochai.

What do you get back in a trade taking back a bad contract? A protected FRP at best? More likely some SRP's. Is that changing our fortunes?

Is Ochai really that good of a player if he can't beat out RJ who you seem to think we can't trade?

They had alot of luck as well.....there's plenty of teams that tanked "properly" but didn't have that luck.

Their front office has done a damn good job and every great franchise in history gets luck. Castle at 4 was an amazing pick, Carter Bryant at 13 might be the sleeper of the draft. Savvy signings like getting one of the best defensive bigs in Kornet for very cheap, while giving up peanuts for Fox.

They also still have a pick swap with Atlanta coming up.

The problem is charlotte would’ve been trash building around wemby. As amazing as wemby is, to win a title you’ll need quality players around him. Charlotte would’ve had wemby leaving in 4 years.

All the people who crushed masai for the run of moves starting with the Poeltl trade, looking more and more justified. His ego couldn’t take a full tear down and we ended up with this half assed retool roster that’s gonna top out at what? A 6th seed in a weak east at best?

Not jumping on the "tank tank tank" train just yet because at least on offense I expected it to take time for it to gel but the defense is inexcusable.
