Not that the player would get in trouble, but curious to know who it was and who would have a relationship with Damon Jones.

Was in 2023 so had to be a recent Magician. I wonder if it could have been Fultz or Harris.

Google says:

The Tip: A co-conspirator in the scheme allegedly used a personal relationship with a regular Orlando Magic starter to learn that multiple top players would sit out a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers in April 2023.
The Bet: That co-conspirator then passed the tip to defendant Marves Fairley, who placed a bet that the Cavaliers would beat the point spread. The Cavaliers won by 24 points, and Fairley and the co-conspirator profited.
Jones's Role: Former NBA player and coach Damon Jones is charged separately for his role in the gambling scandal. Prosecutors allege that Jones shared and sold confidential information on multiple occasions about player availability for Los Angeles Lakers games in February 2023 and January 2024. There is no public record of a connection between Jones and the specific Magic player who provided information to another defendant

My guess was Harris

makes sense......i was kinda confused how he was out so long for like a sprain or something

Don't think it was Harris being out but someone else who was out that Harris or another Magic player informed the mob that was out.

2 games in and my opinion is the same as last year, we are not serious about a damn thing if we think we can do anything with WCJ as our starting center. He is just another body on the floor

This season has started very similar to 2023 for Paolo...

LOL, this guy wrote a whole "told you so" article after one bad game of a player he dislikes, he is probably a regular poster on RealGM.

My take:

We won't pick up jett s option (30/10/2025)
We won't allow JI to play 52 games this season

2 casualties of the 2 second apron

Ji is one of my favorite player and I think Jett will be a very good NBA player
Suggs, Tyus, Jase
Bane, AB, Jett
Franz, TDS,

I think this team needs to fix one thing at a time. Slow down the pace a little and focus on defense. As they get better with defense increase the offense gradually while making sure that the defense is solid with each pace change. I don’t know if it is too late to establish something but I feel like they might need more practice time. If nothing else just make sure that they have running days to build up their conditioning.

It might not be normally to have so many practice days but if this team really wants to turn things around they have to do things differently.

Go Magic, Go Dwight, Go Vuc, Go Paolo, Go Keegan :)

I think they're more likely casualties of stinking up the place...I'm a big fan of prime Isaac too, but haven't seen him in quite a while. Having said that, there's no great reason to not give them one last shot to contribute. I could see Howard resurfacing elsewhere and being okay but he's been completely irrelevant in his young career so far. I don't know what happened to Isaac - good health doesn't seem to agree with him.

Good calls on both. JI getting shelved so we can trigger his non-guarantee is cutthroat but reasonable.

He is talking about a one-month stretch last year after Paolo went down with his oblique and before Franz went down with his oblique.

From November 6th to December 6th the Magic went 13-4 over 17 games and had an ORTG of 113.1 which was 15th best in the NBA.

Franz in that time period averaged 27.6 PPG, 5.9 RPG, 6.5 APG on a .575 TS% with a 32.3 USG%.

Тhis conveniently removes the first three games after Paolo got injured in which the offense was pretty horrendous (we ended up scoring 85 points twice in a row).

We also played a lot of bad defensive teams during that stretch. The Hornets twice, the Sixers without Embiid twice, the Pacers twice back when they were in a slump and were one of the worst defensive teams in the league, the Wizards, the Nets twice, etc

If Mosely cant find a way to get Paolo involved and more efficient, then he needs to go.
If Paolo isn't worth a max contract because he requires a specific system entirely built to accommodate his efficiency, then he needs to go.
If neither are solved and Magic struggle for duration of the season, then Weltman needs to go. He probably should anyway.

The way Josh frames the season makes a lot of sense. The quotes from the players all add up. It seems clean in theory. The questions I have are why isn’t it working, can it work, and if not, how long until we know it won’t?

NBA analyst Kirk Goldsberry says Paolo Banchero reminds him of former NBA player Josh Smith :D

“I’m going to raise the red flag over Paolo Banchero Island. This is such a key moment for him, and I hesitate to admit this — but at times, he reminds me of Josh Smith. He’s made just five of his 27 jump shots this year, and I’m not cherry-picking. I love Paolo — he’s a huge part of the future of American basketball — but last season, among the 62 most active jump shooters in the NBA, he ranked 60th in efficiency. He has a jump-shooting problem, and as the team’s most active scorer, that’s an issue. Some of the advanced numbers aren’t trending in the right direction, and this start to the season has cemented in my mind that he might not be improving at this key phase of his career.”

It was when we had the most ball movement, the most variety in our attack, we had PnR with Goga, Suggs off ball and shooting it, lots of cutting....

Mosely needs to make some big boy re-jig decisions or he needs to step aside for someone who will.
