Queen played 34 minutes and was ÷5.
I watched some of that game. The Pels played a lot of zone to clog the paint and it seemed to work. They were playing way off Castle and letting him shoot which ended up burning them when he hit one late in the 4th.
Curious to see if other teams start playing more zone against the Spurs.

Yep. If we do not land Peterson, he should be a target.
Imagine we land Boozer:
Reaves/Bilal/Ky/Boozer/Sarr
With Tre as 6th man off the bench.

Listening to the Zach Lowe show and his guest dropped a bomb on Banchero. He was comenting about Paulo's love of shooting jumpers and continuing to miss them and he compared him to.......gulp...... Josh Smith.

Re: NBA Games Discussion Thread - Part 6
I am liking NBC's return with the NBA.
Bob Costas narrating the open. I like the Knicks-Bucks one. The NBA NEVER LIKES TO TALK about the pre-Bird/Magic era (Anything before 1980). So it's nice a little snippet of that era is highlighted here.
SNF style intro for player lineups
And they really recorded a huge interview with MJ and are only releasing bits each week

Just win, baby.
With all of George, Sarr, Coulibaly. Johnson, Champagnie, Riley, and Watkins at their best win 35 games. Upset some team in a play in game and advance to the playoffs.
Clearly, be a team of the future.
Don't worry about the lottery. Sign Reeves as an UFA. Maybe a Pharrell Payne will be available in round two. I think Yaxel L won't be available.

Re: NBA Games Discussion Thread - Part 6
Big game happening tonight:
The 2-2 Utah Jazz face the 1-4 Phoenix Suns in what is probably the most important game of the season for the Wizards other than Wizards games themselves. Every game the Suns lose helps us a ton, and it's particularly important for them to lose to bad teams (since we know it's fairly likely they will lose to good teams). Meanwhile, every Jazz win reduces the chances they will be beneath us in the lotto seeding.
Remember, the sweet spot is to be 3rd-from-last in the standings. It gets us the same lotto odds as 1st-to-last and 2nd-to-last, but it gives the morale boost of winning a few more regular season games than the two bottom feeders. 4th-from-last isn't such a bad spot either as the odds are only barely worse than 3rd-from-last. (Note, I'm less concerned about the default placement in the 5th to 7th range if we don't land a top 4 pick. This is a 3-man draft.)
So, if Utah can get firmly ahead of us, that we might be safely among the bottom 3 of us, Brooklyn and New Orleans.

Appears we need to take Indiana as a serious threat to tank. It would be very NBA like that they and Atlanta (via NO) get high picks.

Re: NBA Games Discussion Thread - Part 6
The Jazz once again come up small. They lost to the Suns. Ace Bailey still looking like Ace Failey (seewhatIdidthere).
Pels lost by 2 to the Clips and are still winless. Indy lost to the Hawks, who didn't have Trae Young, and are also still winless.
I agree - that Indy and NO are likely going to lose a lot this year, with Indy losing on purpose. Boston might pivot to tanking but the East is really weak so that's tough to do.
Brooklyn, DC, Utah, NO, Indy should make up the bottom 5, with Sacramento maybe in the mix if they decide to sell. Boston a wild card.
I will lose my damn mind if Dallas wins the lottery again.

Nice win for the Cs over the Sixers last night. Might be that old heart of a champion thing, or maybe they are just really motivated to win the NBA Cup.
Edgecombe is playing 40 minutes per game so far. That might be a problem.

Yeah, that was a crushing blow to us with Phoenix defeating the Suns.
And we definitely need Indiana to win a few games so they abandon the notion of tanking. They just don't have any players that can put the ball in the basket other than Siakam. They really need Mathurin, or at least McConnell. I don't know how much more losing they can take before punting on the whole season.
It's nice that Boston has put it together and won a few games. We just need Boston to stick within a few games of .500 for the first 2 months of the season. If, by middle of December, they are something like 10-12, they will have too many wins to catch up with the elite tankers like us and Brooklyn, and will probably instead try to sneak into the play in.
New Orleans is an amazing situation. They suck so bad that they just can't win a single game, even though tanking offers them no benefit at all. I'm not sure if I've ever seen that. I really think they will put a stretch of good play together at some point because they are absolutely desperate to save face. It would be a catastrophe if they end up with a top 3 pick and have to give it to Atlanta.

I've been a big time doubter of Giddey and I'm getting ready to eat a pretty large plate of crow. I still think he is more of a floor raiser than a ceiling raiser and I question whether he can be effective in the playoffs, but he has been terrific so far.

Poole must feel cursed. Somehow he went to an even worse situation than the Wizards.
