Moody fits, but I'm not sure he's going to be at his best, he missed the whole offseason with thumb surgery.

Yep. We no longer have sky high expectations. We aren't the team that should be making a rash move. But we ARE the team who should look to capitalize off another team's urgency.

But then Kuz becomes an even bigger issue as he's best role is backup 4

Our championship team had PJ Tucker flanking Bobby despite how both are at their best at the 4 spot.

I'm sure that's the vision with Kuz (for better or worse) -- not to mention all the other knockoff PJ's Horst has gone for since letting him walk.

Now there's absolutely opportunity cost with those big salary slots for bench guys who should only be playing up or down situationally.

But the Bucks could also end up trading whoever we don't expect to resign btw GTJ / Cole / KPJ for an upgrade at the 3.

Or some other minimum guy or guys (like Ajax / Coffey / Prince / Harris / Sims just not Thanasis) while we take on salary or give out a draft asset as the incentive.

If Kuzma isn't a negative on the court or in the lockerroom it'd at least keep this approach open.

Gotta be patient. Kuz has to stay on the roster til summer time. We can make the final splash move of the Giannis era this summer but not before. Don't have any draft assets. I hope management has talked to Giannis about this.

Indy was kind of the perfect spot for him. They had time to see development this year while being non-competitive and plenty of playing time if was good enough, but even they cut him.

I get your direction, but how about we deal Kuzma, and then we could deal whoever we get in that deal come offseason.

I'm in favor of any good trade at any time.

There are not many players to trade Kuzma for that I can think of. KCP, Brooks, and Barrett are the only ones that come to mind that might not cost an assett.

Trading him now means attaching value to him just to shed him. He turns into an asset this summer.

Expiring contracts aren't really assets, and Kuzma has appeal to a couple of dumb teams.

It has to be the right deals, but 2- 1sts and a worthwhile player is worth just as much as Kuzma and 3- 1sts.

Wait, it's 2025 and some of you guys are still falling for the "expiring contracts are valuable" thing?

The scenario in which they're useful -- getting better talent who's owed more money for longer -- would theoretically be equally available at any time.

Relatedly, Pelicans are 0-3 and Herb Jones is suddenly 27 years old and signed for 3 more years plus a PO.

I mean sure, but Kuzma doesn't become "valuable" as an expiring. He just becomes "slightly less bad".

Jeremi Grant struggling mightily last season playing on a bum knee, and we were pretty much in agreement we didn't want that contract. Well, our mistake. The knee healed, and he's off to a great start.
