Something fishy going on with the Lakers

Post#1 » by JustBuzzin » Tue Oct 28, 2025 7:56 pm

It's not a coincidence both LeBron and Luka are out with mysterious injuries. Reaves gets to stat pad and up his trade value heading into the trade deadline. It's possible the Lakers are gearing up for a Giannis trade before the deadline using Reaves as the main piece and whatever picks they have to offer. Reaves going to be a all-star at this rate. Bucks will be forced by Giannis to trade him to the Lakers. Getting a all-star Reaves gives Milwaukee some hope moving forward.

You guys think I'm crazy or am I on to something here?

If Reaves is the centerpiece of any proposed trade to get Giannis, I laugh maniacally before hanging up the phone. Dude has no business being the key piece. None.

I don't even think the Lakers machine at ESPN would consider this realistic. The Lakers entire roster minues and every available draft pick for trade wouldn't be near enough to get Giannis.

Sciatica, a finger sprain, and a lower leg contusion. Truly mysterious, exotic even.

The Mavericks GM called Milwaukee 2 weeks before he contacted the Lakers. He proposed Luka for Giannis and the Bucks didn't discuss it.

And now you think they will discuss it not for Luka but for Reaves?

Why is everyone always trying to be Nancy Drew on these forums? Every event turns into a witch hunt or some shotty detective work

Did we skip ahead four months? Heading into the trade deadline??

The fact is there’s a league-wide epidemic of guys sitting out games at the slightest discomfort, apparently. This can be attributed to that.

And even *checks notes* Gabe Vincent and Jaxson Hayes are in on it, at the expense of their own careers.

Never said that. It’s literally every topic, every day. You can be weary and question things, but once it turns into things like this, constantly, it’s not even to the point of being logical. It’s witch hunting

He’s pointed out strong circumstantial evidence. They never had video of the Idaho murderer and he did it. Same principle applies here

Isn't Reaves set to be a FA and whatever team that has him when he becomes one can only offer a certain amount because of his current deal? Might be mistaken on that.

But either way just lol at the idea of Reaves being the centerpiece in a deal for Giannis. Lakers don't have the picks or the prospects to make that deal happen. And I hope Giannis is not dumb enough to demand to only go to LA. LeBron/Luka/Giannis seems like a terrible fit on paper and the rest of the roster would have to be vet min guys

Also, I personally think the whole notion of guys upping their trade value is nonsense. I think GMs around the league have a pretty good idea of who Reaves is and what he is capable of and stat padding while Luka/LeBron are out isn't going to move the needle much imo

Lakers can only trade one pick + Reaves and whatever. Good luck with that in a bidding war.

Lakers owe their 2027 first to the Jazz and their 2029 first to the Mavericks, so the Stepien rule blocks them from also moving 2026, 2028 or 2030 right now. The only cleanly tradeable first at the moment is a single far-out one, 2031 or 2032, not both. After the 2026 draft, they can trade picks from 2031 and 2033.

The deal would be a re-signed Reaves + 3 firsts + swaps for Giannis in the summer. That's not non-competitive, it's probably not the best offer? If Reaves is for real maybe it's in the ballpark? And in this scenario LeBron walks or retires.

Maybe if LA had some other teams firsts but you gotta think that if you're putting Luka/Giannis together those picks are all going to be 25th or later and Reaves + 3 late firsts doesn't seem like a great return for an MVP level player. Reaves is a solid player but let's not kid ourselves, he is not the kind of player you trade an MVP for.

I think to get Giannis you're going to need at least 1 all-star or a blue chip prospect with massive upside along with a couple solid young players and probably 5-6 1sts/swaps at minimum
