Some fanbases lack pride in winning/competition. The prefer to roll over at the first sign of adversity.

two of the most mentally challenged pair of comments I've seen.

Fan creates thread on the team missing 9 players for injury, and that's your take? go back to school and lear how to read again, you failed the first time, will probably fail the second time too

strike issued. Personal attack.

I doubt we go full tank. Certainly I won't be surprised if we let guys really take their time recovering from injuries, but I just don't expect us to go nuts and trade Siakam, Toppin, McConnell, Mathurin, etc.

If the right deal comes up, maybe. But I think we'll just roll with who we've got and let it play out, develop our younger guys, and hope to bring back Tyrese along with a nice draft pick and run it back next season.

The Mathurin piece is the most interesting part; he'll be a restricted free agent, and if he has a great season (he's had a fantastic start) it's a real decision to be made. Wouldn't be surprised to see a S&T of some kind end up happening

If they are going to pack it in for this year in then they might as well trade Siakam. And TJ

Huh??

They were in the finals last year, and are title contenders next year, because they are a true team with great chemistry. They're not moving anybody in that core. This season is simply an elongated pre-season for next season.

It would be nice if some franchise player caliber draft picks ended up in the East for a change, but preferably with a team that didn't just win the championship or go to the finals?

This absolutely disgusts me. You should not be able to make the Finals then just shut up shop and tank and rebound. It’s gross and against the spirit of the game.

Many teams that might tank had a very good start: SAS, Chicago, Sixers, Portland, Utah, Miami, and Charlotte.

Besides, the Pelicans and the Suns don't own their picks.

Boston should compete for a while at least...

Who will tank besides the Nets and the Wizards?

Indiana has a nice opportunity.

It feels like its against the Pacers nature to tank, aka try to lose. Even with near dozen injured and they playing semi scrubby rotation. They still play hard as hell, and give maximum effort in the games I seen so far.

Doesnt feel like its a team and organisation that has an off switch lol

This is what the Pacers depth chart may look like tomorrow with all the injuries. What a joke.

Still no timetable on Nembhard, Mathurin is week to week, Obi is out at least a month. McConnell is probably a month as well. Wild.

Of the Pacers top 10 players last year, only Siakam and Nesmith are currently available.

PG: RayJ Dennis, Mac McClung
SG: Ben Sheppard, Quenton Jackson
SF: Aaron Nesmith
PF: Pascal Siakam, Jarace Walker
C: Tony Bradley, Isaiah Jackson, Jay Huff

Injured:
Nembhard, Mathurin, Obi, TJ, Peter, Jones, Furphy, Hali

It depends on the draft (and lottery luck obviously). The Spurs tanked for 1 season and now their future is set.

they tanked for 1 season twice (23 years apart) and both times their future was set for 15 years. lucky SOBs

Thought it may have been mentioned by now but just before Haliburton went down in the Finals the Pelicans, who owned the Pacers unprotected 2026 first, traded it back to the Pacers to get their 2025 pick instead (#23). That 2026 pick now may well end up being top 5.

So let me get this straight.

The Pelicans traded a 2026 Indiana first back to Indiana, which may very well become a top 5 pick.
The Pelicans traded their own 2026 first to Atlanta, which may well become a top 5 pick.
So the Pelicans owned two picks that could end up top 5 picks in a, from what we know now, pretty good draft, but they now have zero.

I feel bad for Pelicans fans.

Edit:
Not only that, the 2025 first they got back from Indiana was used in the same trade with Atlanta. Boy, Derik Queen better turns out to be a superstar.

This not even a hindsight thing, even at draft night we all knew that was one of the worst draft night trades in past decade. Especially, like above poster added, how they dealt their own they got back to Atlanta same night.

The Pacers have legitimate injuries this year though. This organization also never tanks.
