That's all OP needed to say.
Best player in the game with upside still left untapped. That is also what OP could have said.

Didn’t read the OP? It’s not about longitudinal anything. It’s not about accolades.

That's not how this works. You can say he has the highest "IT factor" you've ever seen, or that he is the most "2k like". But you cannot state that he is the best, like it's a fact. He might be, but we have to have some objective measure for it, and I'm not even necessarily talking about team accomplishments here. I'll have no problem saying that your statement might be true at the end of the regular season, if he keeps this up, and the advanced and box score stats also show something truly special, sure, let's crown him then, in a vacuum still, but let's crown him. Not until then.

lol. Poll is 25-75%. With 36 votes.
May I direct you to the Wemby I am Concerned threads. That seems to be what you are thinking of.

A moronic response. Who says I'm concerned? Wemby is great and may end up in the basketball pantheon, but he is in no way, shape, or form at the pinnacle of everyone who has ever stepped on a court.
Slow your roll, take a breath, touch grass.

Sports isn't a Beauty contest or a talent show...its a meritocracy...and its why MJ is the greatest and Wilt isn't regardless of stats...and why SGA, is ahead of luka when Luka and SGA are as close to even as two players could be....like how giannis and jokic are close...winning matters in competition and Wemby isn't better than SGA, Jokic or Giannis, Curry, Lebron or KD yet...you have to do something like hoist a trophy....and I know people say..ring chasing doesn't matter...but those are people that don't live in the west or understand that sports is about winning not about skills or ability...its about winning period everything else is optional in the debate of greatest ever.
This is a big reason why though I think of it as performance in big moments. With that, I might still have Luka over SGA if his finals performance substantially outshone SGA's, even in a loss, but it didn't really.

age old question - talent over winning....and I take winning and others take talent...tmac or Kobe... either way both those guys are fine...they are not going to be the greatest ever...if wemby wins a ton he could be.

Oh, I side towards winning but then there's the Robert Horry Paradox. In the hypothetical I posted above, it would have said more about Luka's team if he had put up all time numbers and still lost. As it was, he performed similarly to SGA and so you have to give SGA some extra flowers for the W.

Wemby is more skilled though….
According to what, exactly? Chamberlain in this day and age would be so incredibly dominant that Wemby might look like a talented bench player. Dude has skill, no doubt... but recency bias is STRONG in this conversation. The game as we know it was changed at it's core because of just how dominant Wilt was. They haven't changed anything because of Wemby and the likelihood they do anything of that sort borders on moot.
Wilt is a fair question but ultimately 2 championships is simply not enough. Imo, Kareem is better than Wilt. Wilt only one 4 MVPs. Kareem won 5 MVPS in 7 seasons. In terms of skill as good as Wilt was he couldn't make free throws. Wilt was a career 51.1% from the free throw line. Wemby doesn't have that weakness. And Wilt was only 7'1 with a 7'8 wingspan. Wemby is 7'6 with an 8 foot wingspan. A vastly better shooter. And overall just a better mentality. Wilt loved basketball for what it did for him. And was known just as much for his off the court activities as for his own the court activities. Wemby simply wants to be the best.
And he works on his game.

They don't seem like they put in as much work as I thought."
This tells you all you need to know about Wemby. He's just getting started. He wants to dominate and he's willing to put the work in.

Sounds like you’re close. I’m already there. I’ve seen enough. I added the poll (knowing it’d be negative) so I don’t think I’m declaring it by fiat.
