Koloko was insurance and bloodclots derailed his career, then Chomche was insurance and bloodclots are currently derailing his career

Yup, just do this. If this guy could handle Wemby and hit some 3s he's already better than Poeltl.

I'd take Simmons for minimum

Re: Toronto needs a new Center
I think they should start CMB until Poeltl is better and just sit him. We need him and it's a long season. The start of the season is tough. I can see us being 10-20 and then climb back to 500. It's one of those seasons. We got unlucky with the schedule, as a young and revamped team we need a run way. I think the Magic have an easy schedule to start and it'll probably make them surpass their expected win total.
I think it's time we start CMB and Agbaji and bench RJ and Poeltl. I would keep playing RJ and Barnes together though with the bench unit and Poeltl. It'll help him continue to take and make efficient shots.
CMB / Poeltl
Barnes / Mamu
Ingram / RJ
Agbaji / RJ
IQ / Shead
That's the only bunch who should be getting minutes. I'd eventually trade Agbaji but let's raise his value before we send him out. We should be sitting Ingram every 5th game and on back to backs. He's injury prone and it needs to be managed. We can periodically start RJ in those games.
That would take a coach with some balls, and Darko is too much of a people pleaser. But it's clear we don't have a winning starting line up. They've always been negatives. Barnes, IQ, and RJ together doesn't work. We have to separate IQ and RJ.

I always felt Bamba was overhated (yes I mean hate) due to the lofty expectations. He would in an interesting option.
Unfortunately it looks like we are going to stay the course

it doesnt seem like Bamba cares about basketball, he hasnt really gotten any better than what he was when he was drafted. id rather take a chance on a guy like Bol Bol, hes cut from a similar cloth but he at least seemed like he wanted an NBA career.
As far as Ben goes, i think at this point hed be viewed as too much of a sideshow, let him breath for a year and I bet he comes back with a better headspace, beside, hes not a C

Apparently Bol Bol too doesn't really care about basketball; he seems more info fashion.
I think the Raptors are waiting for the 10 day contracts to come around (Jan 5, 2026), then bring back Sarr to see what he can do. I can see us maybe trying out Drew Timmie too (as we tried to bring him to our Summer League team last summer).

We should try to hit on a 10 day, like Pre gambling Jontay Porter who was actually pretty productive before the scandal. Ibou Badji looks like he has a chance, only 22 right now. 7'8 wingspan. Just dunks, and defends the rim but maybe not a fit for Darko's offense. Still think he can force some turnovers though and overall positively contribute for small minutes

Pat McCaw sighting!
Who says Boucher was the last of the title team. Bring Patrick up for a few games so there can be a championship ring in the room.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

Random, but shouldn't we spell it "centre"?
I spell the word as "centre" without even thinking about it, and it always surprises me when I talk with Americans.
I really wonder what caused Jakob to regress over a period of... what, 5 months? Did he get injured training over the Summer? Anyway, if he gets back to being a 15/10 centre, I actually think we'll lowkey have an interesting (not great) centre line-up with CMB/Scottie/Mamu playing small-ball 5 and Jakob playing traditional 5. I think the centre line-up of a team should have a "main" traditional centre, a back-up traditional centre, and a number of 4s who can slot in as small-ball 5s.

This didn't age well. I wonder if Kessler will come back half as good as before in a year.

Re: Toronto needs a new Center
If we get in on the Ja sweepstakes, I'd still be trying to move Poeltl for Edey in that package.
Ja + Edey for IQ + Poeltl works in the trade machine. Could even add Dick or Walter and it would still work.
Buutttt, I just don't know if I want anything to do with Ja's bad attitude.

Don't think we give up Jakob yet, but we should feel comfortable playing Mamu more depending on match-ups. Jaylin Williams could be some one we try to acquire. Is athletic and has some 3 ball potential.
However, there will be match-ups where Jakob will be the better fit. The stats so far show that Barnes thrives a lot more when playing with Mamu versus Jakob.

Problem with this is, that you downgrade from Poeltl to Edey, and we want to win now. Edey might be as good as him in the future, but he isnt now. (and he is injured i believe). And forget Ja's attitude for a moment. His playing style doesnt fit our team. We play heavy team basketball, Ja plays a lot of 'get me the ball and get out of the way' game.

This isnt true. Barnes numbers are not better with Mamu than Poeltl. They are more or less the same. The main difference is, that Barnes is hitting his 3s.

He's 30.
