This.

We have to stockpile losses now so we can make a morale boosting late season run without jeopardizing our pick. And if we must lose now, it’s best to lose in close losses where we actually look like the better team except for a lack of veteran execution down the stretch.

That lineup of CJ, Bub, Tre, Kispert, Bags... wow... I'd like to find the +/- for that lineup.
CJ shot jacking and refuses to play D.
Bub doing his best to cover for CJ and his man but is limited.
Tre doing his best with a bad back and is still learning.
Kispert cant really play D but gives effort.
Bags in there for the rebounds.
6'4" and under at the perimeter, 6'7" dude who plays D like he is 6'3" inside.
I was LOL

It was a great tank loss. I wanted to win this but am over it now.
Look at all the great moments! Sarr with a 31/11 game! Kyshawn with a 20/9 game. Tre with 10 and Cam with 9. The future looks bright.

Keefe is doing what the FO is telling him to do. Don't blow the Knicks' pick. Play the vets enough to so you can trade them, though it's tough to see us getting a first the way CJ is playing and Middleton is pretty washed due to age and injuries.

If we get the mega stud, it matters not at all, if we get perennially hosed like this past May, it probably matters a little bit.

Part of the issue, however, is that the stink of cold death has been on this franchise for decades, not simply the last game or the past 3 years. It goes back 45. No NBA cultural foot print whatsoever.

So maybe it adds to a preexisting losing culture, but it's hard to really see what another drop of suck would matter to an ocean of suck the past 5 decades. Getting good/great players is the only thing that matters. I don't care if they lose another 78.

One point to keep in mind is that despite being the
second worst team last year, we fell into the slot we
had the highest probability of winding up in. This year
the fix is in not that that is a guarantee. But it's way
better than last year although admittedly, that's an
early prediction ahead of actual knowledge. We don't
know where either we or PHX will end up.

I also don't understand the hate for Keefe. He is the tank commander. He probably won't be around when the team competes in 2027-28. The thing our youngsters seem to lack is consistency. Saar is not going to put up those numbers in the next game. Embiid is like a cone defensively now and Drummond is 320 pounds. Good for Alex.

Whitmore is truly a black hole. Scores 9pts, 0 rebounds and 0 assists at 6-7, 250.

They aren't getting anything for these vets. The league is waiting for the Wizards to buy them out like they have with the other old vets from the past three seasons.

Great tank game though. George and Sarr are ballers. They aren't stars in the least bit, but they can be starters on a good team. That's a big step in the right direction.

Bub was also guilty of some bad turnovers, Sarr/George barely hit the rim on some shots- overall the team has to not tense up in these situations.

Why do yall complain about the most obvious ****...
I just read through pages of people crying that we lost like this roster is going to be great if the youngsters played a lil more...

Get off that dumbness....
It's obvious what gotta go down this year, unless you want the Knicks with our lottery pick....
Nothing this roster accomplishes will make up for blowing this pick....
It's literally 4-5 guys who'd be our best player that is coming out next season.....

This is as divided as I have seen Wizards fans.

Are young players being developed? Yes and no. Sarr and George have taken giant steps forward. Riley has not had an opportunity nor has Watkins. Champagnie, who we know to be at least average, has barely played. Tre Johnson is playing 28 minutes. Good enough. Bub hasn't played particularly well, yet he's still getting sufficient time. The complaint about developing players has to do with Keefe's minutes for McCollum and Middleton. The rationale for playing the vets might be to keep their trade value high.

Is the goal to win? They lost to Milwaukee. Too much Giannis Antetokounmpo. Otherwise, the Wizards competed well. They beat Dallas. Kyshawn George played like a superstar. This was the best a Wizard has performed since John Wall. They got blasted in the home opener by Charlotte. Was this a "Same old Wizards" loss? Kyshawn had 6 points and 6 fouls. The Wizars had no d, giving up 88 second half points. Tonight, they killed it through three quarters. Sarr had a monster game. Kyshawn George played like that dude again. Bagley had to be benched to preserve what might be a tank.

My only thought is we've only played four games. Riley and Watkins will make their mark. Champagnie got his contract, but I am afraid he won't play because they clearly don't want to win. When Coulibaly returns, decisions must be made.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

And why was the team -21 with Keyshawn on the court. He had a fantastic stat line.
That is what I noticed as well.

In 18 minutes, Marvin Bagley had 14 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block.

Whether Sarr is pissed or not about tanking/losing, he and the other youngsters will all be under contract in the next two seasons. They'll be Wizards competing for minutes.

It's not like they can enter a transfer portal. Good thing for the Wizards that they can't.

Yeah I dont get the culture/losing thing. The Wall wizards were putrid before he came and putrid for awhile and they still had some deepish playoff runs. Same with Arenas. Especially in basketball having better players trumps everything else

Sarr is looking like maybe a star. Not a superstar. But a star. He’s not even good yet … and he’s playing like this, and putting up numbers like this. And George is growing at a rapid clip. He had that 34 point game and now a 20-piece tonight with guys all over him. Superstar? No. But it’s looking as though he’s not a mere role player, either.

When the sixers get Maxey, Edgecomb and McCain on the court together, that will be one wicked three guard lineup.

People think this was some kind of tanking genius, we were trying to win the game, there will be plenty of blatant tank games ahead.

CJ and Khris did a good job tanking by being awful at the end and in OT :D

I don’t understand the Keefe hate on this board. This team has been an absolute pleasure to watch this year as they are competing hard. That was an undefeated Sixers team we controlled for three quarters with great ball movement and defensive intensity. I haven’t seen that level of defensive rotation since Flip Saunders was at the helm.

Did we blow a big lead? Yes. But we’re also a young, inexperienced team. Tre had three straight good looks from three in the fourth quarter that just didn’t fall. No hate, just unlucky. Any one of those probably changes the outcome.

Have we seen growth from our young players? Absolutely. I even thought Bub played great tonight.

They’re competing on defense, moving the ball on offense, and showing real growth. Sounds like a good coach to me.

Should we have won the game? Yes. But honestly, our top priority this year is to keep our pick, so this was the perfect outcome. Compete for over three quarters and still take the L.

I was expecting this board to be ecstatic after that game.

Fully agree this was perfect. Young guys playing well, vets keeping the tank rolling.

Interesting that Sarr took 7 3s after avoiding them. Maybe this will be a matchup thing going forward.

I like the way Kyshawn played more controlled, not hunting shots as much. 7 assists and only 1 turnover
