Re: PG: Bucks play hard and come back
Good first half. Awful 2nd half
We still have the same defensive issues. What’s different about our defensive scheme? Doesn’t even matter because KAT and Brunson are awful on defense you can’t hide them both. We will continue our defensive struggles because there’s just too many weak defenders playing at the same time.
Offensively need to get KAT involved more. He’s disengaged right now. No flow to his offense and you can tell he doesn’t know when and where he’s getting his shots from.
Not really feeling that good about this team right now

Re: PG: Bucks play hard and come back
It’s tough to get on him too hard cuz he was basically the only one that showed up on offense but Brunson defense was terrible. He was late on a bunch of close outs. Also not sure why brown had him on Rollins so much. Probably better to hide him onto Trent.

i have been saying this since we fired thibs. no one can fix 2 cones on defense.
Mitch wont change that either. when your two best players are terrible defenders, you not gonna be able to establish a good defense.
We can win big, if we are healthy and clicking on offense, scoring 120+ points every night with insane pace. But so far it doesnt seem to click on that end either. Our injuries surely dont help.
But i hate to say it.. i have seen this comming. Hopefully im wrong but i think, if it wasnt for thibs ignoring the bench hes a way better coach.

Re: PG: Bucks play hard and come back
I expected a 10-10 type of record to start so I'm not surprised. It's going to take time for these players to adjust. KAT seems to be having the most problems figuring it out. He's a super talented scorer and shooter so HC Brown and JB need to find easier ways for him to get the ball. It can't be KAT trying to take a smaller guy off the dribble from 24' out. That's not his game. And run some picks or something to get him some 3s too.
But we'll be fine. These first few weeks are kind like an extension of the preseason.

Re: PG: Bucks play hard and come back
Warriors Analyst wrote:Warriors fan here. I come in peace. I've been curious about how Brown's offense would fare for the Knicks. As an outsider, I've thought that the Knicks could use more layers to their offense and more spontaneity. I thought Towns could really look good in this offense as a playmaker, given what Brown got out of Sabonis and a heavy diet of DHO's in Sacramento.
During training camp, I saw KAT's quotes about not really knowing what the Knicks' offense was supposed to be. This was, I thought, a bad omen.
I caught some of Sunday night's game against the Heat and most of the third and fourth quarters of tonight's game. I've been shocked by how bad KAT looks. I really thought his passing skills would play well in Brown's system, but yikes. To my eye, it looks like KAT is dragging the offense to a slow crawl in the halfcourt when gets the ball. It looks like he's rushing shots when he feels like he hasn't shot the ball in a few possessions. The offense has looked smoothest, to me, with KAT off of the floor, or KAT screening and spacing the floor but not... actually touching the ball.
I've seen KAT meltdowns dating back to his Minnesota days, most notably, the 2022 play-in game where he had one of the most disastrous stretches of turnovers, baffling fouls, and stubborn post-up attempts that I've ever seen. I guess I thought KAT would grow out of these spastic, emotionally unregulated stretches of basketball, but at this point, he's nearly 30, and he's still committing Russell Westbrook-level meltdowns.
I'm curious if people think I'm being unfair or if KAT-skepticism is a commonly-held feeling around these parts. I'd like the Knicks to go far in the east. KAT seems to me like an active deterrent to that goal.
We got warriors fans chiming in shtting on KAT. We are literally down bad.
Excellent post tho.

Would’ve been better to just pay Randle at that point. He’s averaging 25/7/5 on very good efficiency. KAT’s production is making Randle look like Jokic this year.
Hard to know how those negotiations went. Seems like randle wanted a max but then settled for a reasonable deal in Minny. I think the Knicks would have done things differently if they knew he would sign for that number.
I feel like Randle would’ve still been here if we never hired Rosas. Rosas is the guy that pushed for KAT the most. More than Leon.

I watched KAT for a whole season and still don't know where he likes the ball besides the trailer 3. Its either that or he catches at the top, pump fakes and line drives left. I've seen nothing else he does comfortably.
His post game isn't that bad but he rarely uses it and got crushed by Kuzma somehow. He doesn't really function like a Sabonis or Jokic where you can give him the ball at the top and have him post at the elbow then pass out of that.

All I know is I caught Giannis ball watching a lot when Jalen was cooking… dude was in awe.
That post-game deflection “we beat the Knicks” was a nice try.. he didn’t deny wanting to be here tho..

Knicks got to make this giannis trade happen. If you need to attach Mikal/OG along with KAT just freaking do it. Giannis went on a stretch in this game where he literally just took over by himself. Imagine we had that when Brunson goes to the bench.

Re: PG: Bucks play hard and come back
I think the players are still getting used to... they've not fully bought in yet because it hasn't consistently worked... it takes players who commit who can see this through.
I think the players like JB, Mikal, KAT commit to winning a championship... so I think it'll work once we see more consistent results.
Imo we need a 15ppg sniper to start at SG, not a ROLE player sniper like Shamet. AKA We need Donte back. On nights like this, someone who can shoot the lights out effortlessly like Donte can help the whole team regain their swagger after a lost lead and get back in it.
"Effortless" is key word, I think the players are trying too hard just to make a bucket. So they're pressing when they miss and the time is running out.

If we didn’t do everything it took to get Giannis in August then we need to fire Leon.

Re: PG: Bucks play hard and come back
That second half was terrible specially for KAT and Hart. they obviously need to be better,
Also, i feel OG is settling for too many 3s. he's a good shooter but he's not a shooter if that makes sense. he needs to cut and attack the basket more. last year OG was good for like 4 dunks a game, need more of that.
