Make Mynot a starter until JT returns and that tank train will be derailed.
Credit to Joe for not being stubborn and started Mynot in place of Hauser.

Re: Welcome to Boston, Josh Minott!
From HugoMania to MinottMania and we are only 4 games into the season.
Lets see if either of these guys (assuming Hugo plays again anytime soon) can actually string together a handful of games before we get excited.

I hope the Celtics are pushing Minott to get stronger. Obviously this is a slow process and results won't be seen for some time but more strength would help his game a lot.

He looks pretty strong to me. Sure adding 5 pounds of muscle would be awesome for most everyone but I think he is ok.

Re: Welcome to Boston, Josh Minott!
Hopefully they start him again. That clearly worked well.
The Cavs are likely better than the Pelicant’s though.
I hope Hugo gets some PT.

Minott is 22 years old, almost like a draft pick. Hope the Celtics keep him long term. Minott and Gonzalez will be two excellent wings off the bench when JT comes back and in the next few years.

The PF position isn't what it used to be. It's 2025..we often see guys like Aaron Nesmith, jalen Williams, Jimmy Butler, Caleb Martin, Jerami Grant and Josh Hart playing the 4.
So if JB or Hauser (or Tatum when healthy) is at the 4, it's ok..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Can Minott defend guys like Evan Mobley, Siakim or Giannis? If he can that's obviously hugely beneficial to the Celtics. Would allow Tatum to expend less energy on defense. Tonight should help answer that question.
I don't think Josh is overly skinny but most guys will get bigger between 22 and 25 if they work at it. Look at Tatum's progression.

Minott is basically the same size as Siakam..

Both espn and bball ref have Minott at 205. Bball ref has Siakim at 230. ESPN has Siakim at 245. I don't know what Siakims actual weight is but let's assume it's 230. Siakim is rather lean. That extra weight is not fat. 25 pounds of muscle is significant.

He has been a pleasant surprise up to this point. I wasn't expecting much from him. He's a serviceable rotation player.

Disagree about the pf position. Look at the top teams.
Knicks want to run Robinson and Towns (248 lbs) together. That makes Towns the PF. Even if one of them is sitting you have OG (232 lbs) at PF not Hart.
Indy, last year when they were a top team, had Siakim at PF.
Denver has hyper athletic, 235 lb Aaron Gordon.
Giannis is listed at 242 lbs.
Thunder run double bigs with 7'1" Chet (213 lbs) and Hartenstein (255 lbs).
Evan Mobley is listed at 215.
Harrison Barnes at 6'8'', 225 starts for the Spurs.
Banchero is 6'10" 250 lbs.
Minott at 205 is lighter than all these guys.

Those are heresy - not official measurements. The only time any of these guys have actual, real measurements taken is at the draft combine. And some of them back when they were drafted didn't measure because it wasn't mandatory until 2024.
Minott didn't measure at the combine..Siakam weighed in at 226 lbs:
https://www.nba.com/stats/draft/combine-anthro?SeasonYear=2016-17
He's probably right around 230 lbs now, *maybe* 235 lbs..Minott is probably around 215-220 lbs, *maybe* 225. Watching them on film, they look about in same ballpark size-wise with Siakam maybe a little bigger..

Exactly. Teams that have real PFs - play them (also MIN and DAL)
Hauser is not a PF as he isn't big or strong enough
Minott and Boucher are who we have. Both are too skinny but at least have the size

What about MIami? They went to the NBA finals, playing mostly Butler and Caleb Martin at the 4.
Warriors when they won the 2022 nba title..at times they played DRaymond and Looney together but if 1 of those guys was off the floor it was Otto Porter Jr at the 4 and sometimes even Andrew Wiggins at the 4.
OKC was the 1 seed in the west 2 yrs ago playing Jdub at the 4. Even last year when they won the title, Chet and Hartenstein didn't play 48 minutes together every game..when 1 (or both) of them were off the floor, it was often Kenrich Williams, Jdub, Aaron Wiggins or Caruso at the 4.
Caruso played the 4 often times in Chicago.
Pacers were a dangerous team when Nesmith was at the 4.
For the past few years, the Clippers have gone with Kawhi, Paul George, Batum, Covington and Marcus Morris at the 4.
I also think we need to keep in mind, the heights/weights listed online for these guys aren't usually accurate. Like, nobody is actually having these guys stand on a scale and see how much they really weigh throughout their career..closest thing to official measurements we get is at the draft combine.
On film, Minott looks like he's around 220 lbs or so. If anything a guy like Harrison Barnes looks slightly skinnier (and maybe an inch shorter too) than Minott..
Knicks sometimes play Towns and Robinson together but they pretty frequently have 1 (or both) of them off the floor..especially since Robinson is one of the more injury plagued players in the league. While OG likely weighs more than Hart, there's more than weight that goes into a player's position. A lot of it comes down to things like play style, role, the player's strengths, weaknesses, how good they can rebound, etc. Hart is basically the best rebounder on the Knicks. He typically plays tougher and more physical than OG as well..Hart's role is to crash the boards, create 2nd chance opportunities for the Knicks..OG's job is to stand out on the 3 pt line and hit open jumpers so that probably makes Hart the 4 and OG the 3..
Gordon is not that athletic anymore. He's like 6'8", 235..Minott is just about 6'9", and around 220 or perhaps 225 lbs with more athleticism since he's much younger and has had way less injuries that sap much of the athleticism over the years. They're not that different in size.
A guy like Tobias Harris is not that big for a 4..Roycle O'Neal was starting at the 4 for the Jazz when they were a 1 seed in the west..
Teams playing most of the game with a PF who is significantly bigger than Josh minott are the exception - not the rule.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Nowadays there are bigs, wings and ballhandlers. The old positional definitions are pretty much dead. Minott is a wing. Try to make him into something else and you will be disappointed.

Forget nomenclature focus on opponent. The Celtics need Minott to defend Giannis and Banchero. He needs to get stronger.
