No way is he this bad though. This is coaching. KAT has major issues defensively and has some weaknesses offensively but no way is he a 35% from the field type of big man. Hes one of the more efficient scoring bigs in the league and Mike Brown got him looking the worst he’s ever looked in his career. He’s tanking his trade value too

KAT is a an extremely talented yet frustrating a flawed player....yes

Do we know the extent of his injury...no

Do we know how the trade rumors are effecting an extremely emotional player...no

Would I do the Randle and Divo trade for KAT again...no question

Now does that mean if a move down the road in moving KAT makes sense for this team to get where it needs to go...maybe...it could even be likely. But everything is opportunity cost. We also traded very flawed players to acquire him but KAT provided more versatility because our lovely extremely talented center that never plays in Mitchell Robinson along with OKC sending a godfather offer for Ihart basically forced our hand to do so.

Excellent perspective.

Its early and a lot of the answers to these questions will likely be brought to light soon.

It's really not fair for guys to pile on KAT when he's clearly injured and he played at an all-star level last season. He's not trash... he's just playing like trash right now.

People have their agendas and won't stray away from them. Kat is a flawed player - everyone knew this. Nobody expected a coach to "fix him" in year 11 - the hope is rather to maximize his strengths etc but this system doesn't seem like a great fit for him, or at least he isn't buying in the way we would have hoped (unless it is just the injury limiting him etc). It's confusing the offense is supposed to be fast paced but plan was to start Kat and Mitch? Doesn't add up.

So far this season only Brunson (but only averaging 5 assists) and Bridges are really playing well. And maybe throw in Deuce (but only 2 games). But almost all of the blame is going to Kat right now.

OG is putting up 14 on 37/32 - 51 TS - and his defense has been nothing special. He gets paid 40 mil this season and 42.5 next year. That is looking like an untradable contract if he doesn't improve dramatically.

I haven't seen his name mentioned at all though. People treat him like he's some role player when he's the 2nd highest paid guy on the team. I never liked the contract and thought it was an overpay from day 1. When we traded for him the rumor was he was going to take a pay cut to sign with NY in the ball park of 25-30. Then dude signed essentially a max contract. His contract is a major reason the team is up against the apron.
We always crap on 5he top of the pile first then work our way down.

That post-game deflection “we beat the Knicks” was a nice try.. he didn’t deny wanting to be here tho..

Knicks got to make this giannis trade happen. If you need to attach Mikal/OG along with KAT just freaking do it. Giannis went on a stretch in this game where he literally just took over by himself. Imagine we had that when Brunson goes to the bench.

It's a Bucks/Knicks game so I will entertain your KAT/Giannis drama for a moment :D

I still feel like other teams could make a more appealing offer to the Bucks but lets say the Knicks were somehow able to make a KAT + (OG or Mikal) swap for Giannis + Kuzma, how would the remaining roster fit around Giannis? The Bucks have tried to put as much shooting around him as possible for years. How would it work if he was sharing more time on the court with non shooting threats like Mitch, Huk and Hart and well below average perimeter shooters like Clarkson and Kuzma? What does your rotation look like?

I feel like you would have to rebuild half the roster but I don't think any of those guys I listed have any trade value now and we don't have much trade capital outside of that either.

I haven't watched all of OKC's games but Ihart didn't look great in the first two I did watch. I doubt they accept his option after this year unless they plan to use it to package him in a deal.

Some days I’m glad this team will never win shittu in any of our lifetimes. This is one of those days. But I will try to take a break and rejuvenate and come back with a more positive mindset!

4 games into the season with a new coach and new system. Not concerned yet. If we're struggling a month from now, then I'll start worrying. With that being said, Kat does need to step up more and play better. I have no issue trading him in a package for Giannis as long as it doesn't gut the entire team in the process. I'd still take him over Randle. When a player states that they couldn't mentally handle the pressure of playing in NYC after they get traded. we made the right move.

You start with the foundation. If it's KAT+OG+picks then you have JB, Deuce, Mikal and Giannis as the foundation. That's a heck of a foundation. You use the rest of the roster to trade for better fitting pieces and make a run for ~3-4 years. That means guys like Mitch, Hart, and whoever else is left would have to be traded away for shooters and 3&D guys. Shamet could stick around since he fits a bench role.

I liked Shamet with the starters. He carried us nicely in that 2nd quarter with his hot shooting. Then you bring Deuce off the bench for 30 mins.

There is a good possibility we're 4-0 with Deuce playing but it would just cover up what needs fixing. If we can't overcome this early adversity we were never a serious contender to begin with.

Gets 3/4 what Kat gets but 1/100th of the criticism. His contract is a huge reason we're up against the 2nd apron.

shhhhhhh you're not allowed to say that. its KAT fault.
