There is no one in the history of basketball that can impact winning more than Wembanyama. And the spurs are well coached. Wemby said it perfectly in the press conference after the last game. To beat the Spurs you basically need to have a great 3-point shooting night. Inside the 3-point line, he simply covers too much space, is too tall and too long to shot a good percentage. Think about this. Last year Evan Mobley won DPOY. Wemby's defensive impact is in a different stratosphere than Mobley. It's to the point where his mere presence impacts what teams are doing. Wemby is the greatest defensive player in the history of basketball period. He should win 10 straight DPOY if not 15 straight. Combine that with the fact that he's the GOAT lob threat. An 80%+ free throw shooter. And he's developing skills. Back to the basket game. Face-up game. Ball-handling.
This the worst Wemby will be. Is it guaranteed that he'll be the GOAT? No. But if all he does is stay on his current trajectory which player in the NBA is going to stand in his way? Especially given how modern basketball is, it's more likely that one of these current stars try to join forces with him lol. Imagine Wemby with a elite wing? Replace Shaq and Kobe with Wemby and Kobe. Who's beating them? How many championships do they win? Kareem won 5 MVPs in 7 years. This what I expect from Wemby. And if he doesn't win MVP and he's healthy it'll be because he got robbed.
