That could also be true. But we know in the past that stars were traded for either good role players and picks or something similar. Doesn't have to be a star for another star, even though that would make sense in hindsight. But given the reactions after the trade, no sane person considered Nico is calling because he wants to trade his main guy.

I mean, look at Rob's reaction again, he had to make sure 3 times that Nico is actually being serious and is not joking. Even Dumont said that he thought Nico was joking at first. That is a guy who doesn't have a single clue about NBA basketball and still knew enough to at least think twice.

My big push backs would be about LeBron:

a) They idea that it is mysterious that the ultra-ancient LeBron has an injury.

b) That LeBron would be willing to sacrifice anything to help the Lakers now that this is Luka's team.

I do also think it's important to remember that Luka always, always, always gets injured in a season, so while this may be a fake injury, it's not because it's hard to believe that Luka has poor health.

You can't be remotely serious with that take.

Davis, for all of his age and injuries, is still a better player than Reaves likely ever will be. He's a multiple time All Star, top 75 NBA player, 5 time All-NBA and All Defensive first teamer. And while I wouldn't call him a like-for-like swap, he's a far better centerpiece in a trade over Reaves. Who the hell else were they supposed to include in that deal? And he's the only one to make the salaries match as is.
