Re: Giannis Thread - 13th Season with the Bucks
Prime Giannis is better than prime Lebron.
Give him Kyrie or Bosh and he’d have multiple rings.

Giannis’ prime is better than Shaq’s prime and will last longer.
The scoring output of GA at that FG% is insane and has never been done. The defense and rebounding has always been closer to the best in the league than the mean.
Best ball handling big of all time. Best transition player of all time. Elite effort and elite teammate.

What am I missing?

Re: Giannis Thread - 13th Season with the Bucks
I put a few bucks on Giannis MVP before the season at 12-1. He's 8-1 now. The media badly wants Wemba or Luka though. SGA still the favorite, I don't see it.

I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Giannis Thread - 13th Season with the Bucks
Antetokounmpo yelled "This is my city" as he made his way to the bench after a Knicks' timeout in the third quarter.
Antetokounmpo was playing against the Knicks for the first time since a report in October indicated he had some level of interest in playing for New York if he were to be traded by the Bucks.
“Who said that?” said Antetokounmpo when asked about the report. “I don’t read that. I don’t remember that. Right now. I’m here representing my team. And that’s it. We beat the Knicks. That’s all. Doesn’t really matter. What matters is we have a game in two days against Golden State. Try to stay locked in and get two in a row. But I didn’t read that article. I try to stay away from all that rumors — what do you call it? Speculation, trades and all this. It doesn’t concern me one bit. I try to involve myself (in my play) and I try to win games.”

Online I saw someone complete the quote with, "this is my city, I'm not **** leaving"
I have no verification of the second line but since it was going around I was wondering if anyone dived deeper.

He did say the second part

I meant to say he didn't say it. I've seen nothing other than the first line

Re: Giannis Thread - 13th Season with the Bucks
I had read somewhere that the second part was inferred by some based on lip reading….

Definitively?
Where our lip readers at:
I watched the second part several times but honestly, it's all Greek to me.

Re: Giannis Thread - 13th Season with the Bucks
Was chcecking something on Basketball-Reference, and I did not know that it provided PER36 stat prediticions for the season.
Giannis per 36 2026-7 prediction: 31/12/6.5/1/1
Giannis per 36 last season stats: 32/12.6/6.8/0.8/1.2
Giannis per 36 this season so far: 40/15.4/7.7/0.9/1.5
Granted, Giannis has had a monster start and there is no way he'll keep it up at this level, but I think he'll be slightly higher than last season's per 36 stats by the end of it.

He's already faced last years DPOY and one of the best Giannis stoppers in OG, and Barnes is no slouch. After tonight's game, he's really gonna get on a roll.

Even so, I have to believe he's mainly on a heater here. I mean, he's not really going to have a 42 PER this year is he?

Giannis:
It’s such a freaking weird heater, though. Typically heaters would be due to a giant leap in efficiency, but in his case it’s frequency.
He’s currently averaging a career best at the rim, but only by 0.2% while his frequency at the rim has jumped by 11% over his previous high.
Have the defenses just been really porous? To STJ’s point, in theory he’s gone up against some of the better defensive matchups in the league already. What the hell.
I do think the ball has found him on cuts and soft spots more than probably ever before, but a lot of that has to do with the guard’s ability to hesitate in the mid range.
His transition attempts are up, but we also have more active hands than we’ve had in a long time. His putbacks are up which could be flukey, but his efficiency is about the same and that’s still a small part of his offense. His isolation attempts are down, but post ups up.
My theory is he knows it’s his offense which means he doesn’t need to press, allowing him to be patient, and that other guys are making more of an effort to find him in the kill spots. Beyond that, I think there’s been more weak-side movement which occupies the help.
Teams will wall up better, but a good chunk of this seems sustainable to me. Tonight will be another good test.
