What could Paolo bring back in a trade?
*FIRST LET ME SAY - I think Paolo is the best player on the team, a true superstar scorer like Carmelo (for better or worse). This would be an admission that the unconventional Point Forwards thing just isn't working - likely upon bringing in a new coaching staff and/or FO. The idea would be a reset on the fly - reloading with better fitting player(s) and maybe significant draft equity as well. I start this thread with the understanding that Paolo elsewhere might become the MVP if he falls into the right system and supporting cast.

Let me ask you this: What do you think? Since you always propose mock trades, what mock trades in this one do you have?

Re: What could Paolo bring back in a trade?
I think Utah would consider a Markkanen + significant pick package.
Don’t believe the noise, almost every team in league will call if Orlando made him available but they will not regardless of how this season shakes out so kinda a moot point.
They will replace Mose
They will add/trade talent on the edges
Trade Suggs
Continue to get into more asset debt
Replace PBO
All before even considering moving Paolo. Not saying this is the right decision, but the Magic do not have the luxury of moving such a draw. Paolo sells seats good or bad and our management has always been a business > winning type of club so I don’t expect anything to change.
Unless Banchero and his representation forces their hand..

We’re not doing this.
This is Paolo and Franz team and they have to take ownership to get better. Both need to learn to play out of their minds. It is not fair for us to give Paolo a way out when the team is built around him and Franz.

Re: What could Paolo bring back in a trade?
I still think we need to calm down even with this 4 game losing streak. It is still early. Paolo won't be the first thing to be removed. Lots of other things might happen before that. BTW Paolo had a good game vs Detroit. IMO I think he needs to improve his mid range and shots on top of the key. He needs some consistency there. Plus the foul shots.
If this is Paolo's team, he needs to show some leadership there for his teammates. They need a voice and someone who is going to guide the ship

Re: What could Paolo bring back in a trade?
This team is not giving up on PB right now. He is the face of the franchise. I'm a Wagner guy personally, but they are not going to turn the team over to Franz right now even if they probably should. So it's a moot point.
There does need to be changes though. This team needs a rim protector and a true PG. Love Suggs, but the trade for Bane has made it to where that uncomfortable conversation has to be starting.

Paolo is the reason why the offense doesn’t work but go off.

Honestly, i'm here for the meltdowns as much as anything else. If I could name a player right now. Devon Booker sounds about right.
Outside of this, I also like Cade.
But for realz I have been asking if there is a way to upgrade C by trading him.
Honestly, losing Paolo at PF would mean we had to play Isaac. If he was 100% healthy I think i'd say "bet" but he isn't. He seems to play like a shell of his former self thus far this year.

Sky what about Portland? Portland has some young talent to send over with Advija that might actually be a better fit for us next to Franz. Advija could play SF and move Franz over to PF, there are some really intriguing names to add in there with Advija.
It makes sense also kinda if we are/would move Paolo. Portland is really close to where he’s from so it’s kinda like he’d be back home and he can be the face of the Trail Blazers

The time to trade him has passed
Look for a package involving Giannis in the offseason

Paolo can only bring a lower level player as those fire sales always do

Re: What could Paolo bring back in a trade?
I don't think you could get a true disgruntled star without adding picks that we don't have, but probably all-star/ near all-star players on teams that are stuck.
Sabonis, Bam, Jalen Johnson, Zion, Lauri, Randle+prospects package, maybe AD or Kyrie, maybe Fox though Spurs should go for floor spacing. Stuff like that.
Depends on how some of those guys team's seasons go. I am not saying if I would do it, I'm saying that is the kind of player I think maybe would be available.
*Also this scenario is if he has another meh year and we flame out in the first round, so if the players look underwhelming that is my logic as to why. If he plays well and we make noise in the playoffs he's not getting traded*

Playoff Paolo? I wrote that already after the playoffs. Are people really believing what Paolo did in the playoffs is winning basketball? Relying on middies & fadaways? Are we really expecting those to go in in more than 1 round in the playoffs until the law of average starts to set in?
Those are terrible shots. He just hit a few more of those than usual and was still way under leaque average in efficiency. If your 1st option is reliant on those kind of shots good luck for playoff success.
The worst thing is even when he plays good, the chance the rest of the team does not is high because of his playstyle. He makes players around him worse not better on offense.

Re: What could Paolo bring back in a trade?
Playoff Paolo proved he belongs with the best.
Is he the absolute best archetype to build around? Probably not, but Weltman is playing the hand he has been dealt.
It’s not a coincidence that he had a good regular season last season and good playoff showing.
Both instances were slow paced (last in pace last season and in a playoff setting everyone knows the game slows down a lot).
Now, we are trying a faster paced game (which I give credit to the coaching staff for trying) but this is NOT Paolos game… yet and this is NOT his fault….entirely. This lies on the coaching staff to figure out.
We also as fans can’t expect players to just have one single training camp with a new offensive coach and system and expect for them to come out guns blazing. That is not realistic of fair to them.
Either the players get with the program soon or Mosley gets the axe for implementing something new and not being able to figure out how to make it work.
Someone mentioned this already, but Weltman is NOT going to let this play out or be overly patient like he usually is. He will not bring in a coach mid season for him to fail and potentially miss the playoffs which subsequently will put his job on the line. If something is going to happen it will happen within the first 15 games imo.

Thanks for playing...I'm not saying I'd do it either...just making thoughtful conversation. If Kyrie was younger and healthier, he'd be an interesting start to a package...but scary to ponder him right now. I don't like AD enough with all of his health questions, position questions etc.
If younger Kyrie existed...him and Lively?

Portland was my first (imaginary) stop...Scoot and Clingan? Would have to add salary, maybe Grant and we throw back a center other than Moe.
I like the Pacific Northwest idea...also, I'm not even considering something in the East. I do NOT want to see him too often in another jersey.
