Who's hitting the panic button right now?

Post#1 » by Jadoogar » Thu Oct 30, 2025 4:39 pm

Raptors (1-4) - admittedly a tough schedule but the defense looks terrible. If poeltl is out for a prolonged period, this team might already be cooked

Magic (1-4) - poor start for a team that people were thinking should be in the top 4.

Kings (1-4) - topped out roster with very few young players, what are they doing?

Pelicans (0-4) - can't even tank because they smartly traded away an unprotected pick. Wild stuff.

Obviously the answer is the team who traded away their unprotected first round pick for Derik Queen.

but they thing is, they can't really do anything to reset because they don't have a pick. Their only real option is to ride it out.
Raptors could blow it up if they wanted (not that the players have too much value).

They can always trade future picks to bring in some win now help.

But of all the teams, they're the ones panicking the most, followed by Orlando. The Raptors and Kings didn't really have any playoff expectations anyway, so getting a good pick is fine for them.

I'm not sure any of them are going to actually hit a panic button as in they make a major move, but NO is obviously in the worst spot having given up that pick to try to compete this year. They are also bottom of the league in point differential with a brutal -19.

Orlando is probably the most disappointed since they had the highest expectations, but I think they will be fine. Paolo and Bane haven't been able to throw it in the ocean so far, but they'll get it together sooner or later. If they get back to playing solid defense, I think they climb the conference ranks pretty quickly.

100% New Orleans, simply because they don't have their pick for next year.

You really have to question why they hired the guy that paid Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva like All-Stars.

The Raptors are fine. They have played Milwaukee, San Antonio, Houston ... Dallas was a bad loss, Atlanta was a good win. The schedule will amooth out and they will win some games.

You know, it wasn’t THAT long ago that the Pelicans were seen as being in a pretty good situation.

That sure took a turn.

We are always in panic mode after every loss even during the Dwight-era

It is clearly a bit premature to go all in on panic mode; but, among these teams, I chose NO. Giving up an unprotected for Queen was a mistake and it WILL come back to bite them.

The magic paid a king's ransom to acquire Bane. Four 1st round picks and a pick swap. If they don't do a 180 soon their coach is almost certainly getting fired.

Hawks. People had expectations, but they suck again.

Magic are surely having second thoughts about that max extension they handed Paolo who still isn't even league average, efficiency-wise and consistently has awful on-off numbers.

Definitely the Pelicans. They gave up their pick and they're playing in the unforgiving West. Orlando is better suited to survive a slow start

The Mavs are going to be on this list pretty soon with the way they've played so far even with AD, who just got his first injury of the year
