Not gonna lie. Still pretty salty that the lottery gods passed over my pistons and gifted the spurs a dynasty. Wemby is just unreal right now and he's still only 21.

Every team who has a legit chance of getting him should 100% feel salty, lol. I'm still pissed the Raptors decided not to try and tank for him.

Cake schedule so far, but they do look great. I'm loving Wemby trading some threes for drives.

Hah! That's some fancy Starbucks coffee, right there.

I remember watching that scene in pulp fiction where Uma Thurman orders that 5 dollar milkshake, back in the day, thinking it was crazy expensive.

In 2025, it sounds like the bargain if a lifetime.

Right?!

Well that 5 dollar shake is now 10.58 in today’s dollars.

I still thinks it would need bourbon.

For that much money, it certainly should have bourbon.

He's looking fantastic. Strong approach, and it's giving results. Lends any kind of credence to comments from posters last year talking about how the Spurs were screwing around for developmental purposes in their tanking season, and not having him really focus until it was time to try winning.

I had mixed feelings about the Spurs snatching the first overall pick in 1997, Tim Duncan out of nowhere.
Boston was supposed to get him and ended up with Billups. Pitino then traded Chauncey after 51 games.
Spurs now have 2 transcendent players instead of other getting guys like Kwame Brown, Olowokandi, Kenyon Martin etc.

It's a lot harder to beat the 5 teams Duncan faced back then.
Cavs with Shawn Kemp, Brevin Knight, Wesley Person won 47 games that year, they beat by 3pts
Losing to the Bulls at Chicago in 2 OT's was their first loss after 3 games. Bulls were the Champs, won 62 reg season games.
Spurs had a 6-1 record after 7 games.
Compare that to the recent Spurs that beat Dallas without Kyrie, very bad Pelicans team then 2 rebuilding teams and the Heat.

Yes, they really nailed the first overall pick in Wemby. Why can't other teams draft so well?

I was gonna say.

Hornets got robbed big time. That team deserved a generational talent they never had. The Spurs had TWO before Wemby.

But we all know the lottery is rigged by now. So Silver wanted to make the Spurs great again to continue having that team be a huge hit with the European crowd.

You put peak Duncan to this team instead of Wemby and they can also go 5-0 against Dallas without Kyrie and 3 very bad teams and Miami without any legit star.
Like I said, The Spurs had a more difficult schedule back then with Duncan compared to facing Nets, Raptors and Pelicans.
Right now, Chicago are also 5-0 record, beating the Knicks, Hawks, Magic and Pistons, should you proclaim Giddey now as a Superstar?

If Giddey was putting up 30 and 15 with 6 stocks, absolutely we would. Sadly he is only averaging a pedestrian 22 9 and 8.

Pop never really prioritized the regular season. A hot start was never a priority.

still pretty shocking considering Duncan is like winningest player in NBA history.

The closest Tim ever got was 2012, started 4-1.

1. Beat the eventual 27 win Hornets.
2. Beat the eventual 60 win Thunder.
3. Beat the eventual 43 win Jazz.
4. Beat the eventual 49 win Pacers.
5. Lost to the eventual 56 win Clippers

Ok, that's not saying that much. Wemby is 21. Duncan had 19 years to go 5-0 and couldn't do it. Give Wemby credit.
