What’s his upside?

His defence is horrid. His upside is limited at what? RJ Barrett at an absolute best case scenario with a more likely result being a deep bench option?

He just got thoroughly outplayed by Jamison Battle.

The problem is they brought in a 28 year old to save somebody's job.

Ok.

Looks like people are coming around to IQ's lack of defense.
Same with Dick he's just a bad defender and if he's not scoring he's just a pylon

Why is IQ the player you are wanting to keep?

Yeah. I think IQ is the bigger problem.

Been saying this since last season, I'd rather trade Quick. RJ can be hidden, for example when playing with shead, he is tall enough and rebounds well.

I was pointing out IQs defense is bad, people disagreed. Quick is a good 6th man, but when his 3 is off he is a negative. I hope he turns it around to prove me wrong but I am skeptical, I am still waiting. He is not a starting PG IMO. It is a bet that Masai lost (to turn him in a starter PG).

It's ultimately all the same thing. We're still the same team as last year, just in a worse spot.

Ok?

What does this have to do with Dick, his likelihood to be traded, or his value?

Nothing? Alright. Glad we had this talk then.

Surely we both recognize that one team was at a massive disadvantage here, right? If we can’t beat Mobley + 4 bench players comfortably while missing Poeltl, what exactly are we doing? I thought we were supposed to have expectations again this year.

Hunter was potentially starting SF.

Again...My of your posts comment on the Raptors missing Yak? Seemed to miss those.

All I said was “it’s good to know we can beat Mobley + 4 scrubs. I was worried there for a bit”. I really don’t understand your reaction. I don’t know what has you so defensive or what went on earlier in the thread, but there is no reason to take it out on me lol.

Hunter is not a scrub. Nor is Wade. Hunter is probably starting with Strus off the bench.

Other than that u r right, we should have beaten them in an easier fashion. IQ cannot defend. Also, Scottie looks average out there, not a max contract.

I've noticed this in the Atlanta game too, Darko pulled IQ for Shead on the 4th on opponent's run.

Darko is not dumb, but he probably has to deal with starting players egos. Benching Dick ws also a good statement.

Need a trade but if not, Darko needs to grow a pair and talk to one of them into coming off the bench for the team. Kinda like how Kerr talked Iguodala into it.

I would expect it to be RJ and they already planted the seed with the Ginobili comparisons. Still, I think they will try to run this out a bit longer especially once Jak gets back healthy to see if they can make it work.

Yup. I feel the same way. I like PG's who can defend.

I think Calderon was just as good of a 3 point shooter as Quickley, but he was a much better floor general. Overall, Calderon was a better PG. Having said that I still disliked Calderon & wanted him gone. It drove me crazy watching him get blown by every game.

I like some.of the pieces the Raptors have. I like BI. I like Scottie. I like Barretts scoring. Shead is a decent backup. I like JaKobe as a development piece. I like Jak when he is healthy. I really like CMB. I like Mamu as a cheap bench stretch big. I like Battle as a bench shooter. I don't mind Mogbo as a 15th man because he versatile & a good defender.

After that, I think there are some players that they need to look at moving on from.

Does our starting lineup with Barnes, Quickley and Barrett still have a negative net rating?

Every combination of the 4 or 5 man lineup of the starters is a negative 20 or worse.

They just don’t work together.

It's trending this way but I don't think they will give up on it so quickly and will at least want a healthy Jak out there with them for some reps before pulling the plug.

I said we are going to need 25-30pts between GD/Walter/Ochai, in both of our wins that trio had +25pts. Tonite battle replaced one of those 3

Don’t think it’ll matter.

Yak, Scottie, IQ and RJ were a negative 4 man line up last year as well and the year before that. I don’t think Ingram is single handily changing it to an overwhelming positive net rating.

How about we see a system where Gradey is actually used properly on offense before calling for him to be traded?

How would you use him properly? Who should he be getting offensive touches in front of that he isn't already?

Thanks this is that stat I was looking for. We have 2 seasons worth of data of our starting 4 playing together being in the negatives, even Stevie Wonder can see the fit is not working.

Look at Dick's minutes, that's not being used properly. He's not getting minutes.

Now we have to change our system to accommodate Gradey?
