This is wild to me that you would trade for someone like Morant when the Bulls team is finally playing like a decent NBA team with upside. The risk just doesn't seem to be worth it. Mind you if this was the Bulls of previous years, I'd fully agree.
Yeah someone like an all-nba second teamer that plays hard every night and on a per 36 minute basis is the same player he's always been.
Why wouldn't I add this to my team that's obviously playing with fools gold right now? Should I wait for them to come back down to earth and sell low or something?
Outside of the fact that he's super injury prone, you're conveniently leaving out the fact that he's a headcase and not a leader.
If Chicago had vets or infrastructure (like a Miami or Houston) to reign Ja in, I could maybe understand the sentiment.
From what I've seen, Chicago has been rudderless for a while and it feels like bringing in a player like Ja could lead to a combustible situation due to his lack of maturity.
No risk no reward I suppose, but I wouldnt want him on the Raptors for all the reasons mentioned above.
I don't know who Ja Morant is. I've never shared a locker room with him to be making comments like "headcase". Which member of the Grizzlies staff are you? Which Grizzlies player are you? How do you know Ja to be making that comment?
What I see on the court, when he's locked in his energy is infectious and his team and the stadium rocks with it.
Chicago has a strong people manager in Billy Donovan that has worked with a variety of personalities and gotten the most out of them, Ja is nothing special in that area. I have no doubt he'd fit right in with the youngsters on this team who all play hard and want to win.
Injuries? Have you seen today's NBA? Every player is injury prone. That's not an excuse anymore. But yeah, have fun with this 7th seed perennial mediocre team as the roster is assembled. I'm sure Buzelis will have us in the second round one day, maybe, with the right matchups and injuries. I honestly think with the Bulls playing with the pace they played with, we have Buzelis and Vuc as our bigs, shooters like White and Huerter on his flank. Ja's rim pressure and speed he can play with in transition. That's a crazy team. We still got Ayo, PWill and Jones off the bench. I'm liking that team with Ja alot.
This team with Giddey at point looks like pure first round fodder potential. We need Ja, and we need to be buying low and selling high. Ja giving us one or two healthy runs, I really want to see what that team does.
