I like Trae more than most. I am a fan of the floor raising offesnsive quarterback archetype. Trae led multiple top ten offenses in Atlanta on teams that imo didn't have a dearth of offensive talent. I think that has value.

However, I keep coming back to Houston having the number one offense in the league. Why am I spending assets on an offensive floor raiser? I have Sengun and Durant. I need defense.

I am keep landing on the right type of PG for Houston being a POA defensive difference maker, similar to FVV, who can provide a little ball handling and dribble penetration on the side.

Looking around the league, the only thing close i can find is maybe Suggs or Jrue, and I don't necessarily love both of them.

Does a Suggs to Hou, Trae to Orlando scenario make sense?

Growing increasingly clear that Brandon Miller is out for the season and while I hate Miller personally, this is almost a comical level of bad luck for the Hornets franchise.

Look at this recent draft history

2020: LaMelo
2021: Bouknight
2022: Mark Williams
2023: Brandon Miller

A guy who fails out of the NBA due to alcohol abuse and then three guys who constantly get increasingly absurd injuries.

They keep delaying releasing *any* timeline for Miller and he keeps getting second opinions from doctors.

Orlando can't afford Traes next contract

I doubt Trae gets more than like 3/110 fwiw.

That can't be right.

You think he signs a 2/60 extension?

Bad idea, but is there a Monk + DeRozan for Paul George based deal that makes some sense?

No, and not because this is a bad idea.

We are operating under these 3 facts:
-Paul George was mediocre at best last year
-Paul George hasn't played this year
-Paul George has a large contract

For him to be traded, he needs to demonstrate the type or level of player he is currently here. For Paul George to demonstrate that, he needs to play. When he does play, if he plays well, he fits a clear need for Philly, and they keep him in hopes of the East being open, and some slim championship odds exist. If he plays poorly, nobody is trading for him.

Even 3/110 would be too expensive for Orlando

I don't think a team can plan on having 4 max guys (Paolo, Franz, Bane, Trae) on the payroll, especially when the team is spending about 25% of the cap on the C rotation

Even if Trae's next contract is at 20% of the salary cap (i.e roughly replacing Suggs deal), Orlando will be over the 2nd apron when Paolo's max extension kicks in next year (right now ORL will be less than $8M under the 2nd apron even before filling out the last 4 roster spots).
In a no-win argument, the first poster to Let It Go will at least retain some peace of mind

What does a Ja to Phoenix trade look like? Jalen Green + Asset?

I like the concept, but the Suns have a lot of dead salary on the books as a result of the the Beal buyout. Salaries are going to have match and I suspect that will be the *asset.*

I don't think Phoenix has assets that make it make sense tbh. Green + Maluach + Dunn is about the most they can offer. Green is a negative value on his deal, Maluach is raw ... and Dunn is nice but he would compete with a lot of players for minutes.

Then I don't see why Memphis would consider a trade with Phoenix.

Because they instituted a new offense with a coach they're committed to, Ja hates it, quit on his team at home, and they just suspended him.

Still need something. That package is negative overall, imo, and i think a team would give up salary match and a 1st. I think the Clippers, who are always willing to take talent, would give Collins/Bogi (salary match) and their first available pick

Even without the pick the salary reset may be more valuable than a Phoenix package *with* Maluach.

What about JA to Houston? FVV+Eason+picks?
