Team perhaps was sold on Sharpe and wing depth was stronger than most of us felt. I felt going into last year's draft a PF was a real need for the team has Drew and Scoot at PG. Grant's improved play is a major surprise for everyone on this board but looking ahead, the team has Drew, Scoot and a returning Dame for 2026-27 and has Deni, Camara, Sharpe, Green to play wing with DC and Yang to play center. This assumes TL and Thybulle leave in free agency.

Yeah, I didn't see a lot of PFs in the draft that were available and that I liked (not that that matters). I saw mostly wings (Collin Murray-Boyles would be the exception but he was long gone).

I wanted us to snag a PF in the FA market - and they were there.

Back to Yang. I hope he is ready to rumble in 26-27, that would be very helpful. And there are a bunch of PFs in this year's draft - will we get lucky and get Boozer :D

Team did workout Asa Newell prior to the draft but didn't seem enthused and passed on Danny Wolf.

Team seemed to want length and settled for Yang over Beringer who is as much a project as Yang

Given our injury situation I would like the team to take a look at Ben Simmons on a minimum deal. Very low risk, high reward.

Adding another walking injury to the Blazers roster? Sounds like a plan!

Anyway, I've fixed your message

Would require cutting someone (likely Rupert), and it would put Portland into the tax.
(We're ~$1.5M below & the min contract is ~$2.2M)

Team could perhaps use another shooter but soon will have Scoot to deepen the BC.

Team with DC, Hansen, TL (hopefully) and Reath has enough length with Deni as their small ball
center. Deni, Camara, Sharpe, Grant are solid rotation wings with some contributions with the
oft injured Thybulle and Murray.

I don't know if the team needs to add another player unless its for another player that would be an
upgrade on what they currently have on the roster.

I wonder if Simmons has kept himself in shape given his history.

Update for those keeping track... we are getting thin.

Available:
Deni Avdija
Jerami Grant
Jrue Holiday
Shaedon Sharpe
Donovan Clingan
Kris Murray
Duop Reath
Robert Williams - tenuous
Toumani Camara

break glass when needed:
Rayan Rupert
Caleb Love (TW)
Sidy Cissoko (TW)

Blake Wesley - broken bone (foot), waiting on the timeline
Yang Hansen - going to the D League
Matisse Thybulle - thumb surgery, probably out until mid/late December
Scoot Henderson - hamstring, probably out until sometime in December
Damian Lillard - out for the season

So we will see (along with break glass guys)
Jrue
Sharpe
Camara Murray
Avdija Grant
Clingan Williams Reath
Yang to the D-League to get some reps

Having some competent 2-way players might have come in handy right about now....

Instead, POR has Love, Cissoko & Javonte Cooke, but I have been told that they don't matter....

It mIght also have been nice if Rupert\Reath\Yang are playable for several minutes, but they are varying degrees of not playable. Not sure heavier minutes from Murray will have more positive results either.

Sitautions like this are why a team's deeper bench & 2-way players matter.

This. This is the biggest failure by this FO in the off-season (IMO). Love, Cissoko & Javonte Cooke :nonono:

Rupert and Reath could have been moved but I am less down on that. Same with Yang, but I always felt he is a two year project (as are "most" bigs) (although I would rather have had that NO unprotected pick!).

But if you are going to stick with Yang as the pick, then damn, make sure you have players that can carry you through the development phase.
